Ointment for skin allergies in adults

An allergic reaction sometimes appears unexpectedly, and absolutely everything can provoke it. Most often, the disease manifests itself in the form of a red itchy rash on the epidermis. Antihistamines effectively fight the disease, but it is important to choose them correctly, based on many nuances. Allergy ointment on the skin relieves swelling, redness and others unpleasant symptoms in just a few applications. However, it is necessary to find out what provoked irritation and what to do with allergies in the first place.

How can you determine what you are allergic to? Unfortunately, this is not always possible. There are so many allergens that in some cases a detailed examination with allergy tests is required. Can cause spots on the skin food products, cosmetics, medicines, fabrics, animal hair. Often, an allergic rash on the body is caused by a chemical or mechanical effect on the skin. For example, spots appear after a nettle burn, frost, or being under ultraviolet rays cleaning the house with household chemicals. Common allergens include the following:

  • food products, including food additives and flavors;
  • decorative cosmetics, body care products (women are often worried about allergies to face cream, and men to shaving gel);
  • plant pollen, healing herbs, Poplar fluff;
  • insect bites or their venom;
  • some types of metals;
  • medicines (allergy to medicines can be in both children and adults);
  • clothes made of synthetic fabrics;
  • animal hair;
  • alcoholic drinks;
  • household or construction dust.

There are two types of allergies - this is true and pseudo-allergy. The first term means the onset of the disease immediately after contact with a foreign protein that provokes the production of immunoglobulin E. As a result, an immune reaction appears on the release of histamine. Depending on the type of allergy on the skin, the condition of the body, the age of the person, the duration of contact, there may be mild, moderate or severe symptoms. The second term is called various rashes on the skin (spots, blisters, pimples), as well as itching. It differs from the previous form in that the immune system is not involved in the response to the allergen. Perhaps the appearance of not only skin changes, but also disorders in the digestive tract. Very often pseudo-allergy is provoked by citrus fruits, chocolate, coffee, chicken eggs, honey. It is interesting, but sometimes there will be nothing from a small amount of an irritant (for example, tangerine slices), but from a few pieces the legs will already appear. It is not contact with the allergen that is important, but its amount or time of exposure.

Skin allergy symptoms

The main signs of allergic urticaria are redness and itchy spots, often itching in the nose or throat. The symptoms of pseudo-allergy and acute immune response are similar, so a visit to an allergist is a mandatory step on the road to recovery. The skin not only turns red and itches, but also peels off. You can notice both a point lesion of the dermis (for example, only the cheeks, face or hands), and rashes throughout the body. the body, as a rule, is not eliminated on its own and intensifies at night. Spots can be replaced by blisters or covered with small bubbles that burst and turn into sores. A person is also often concerned about hyperemia or inflammation of the skin in the folds. It is recommended to definitely find out what an allergy looks like on the skin in order to notice it in time.

Manifestation of allergies on the skin

A food allergy is accompanied by a rash all over the body, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. To all the symptoms, lacrimation and swelling of the eyelids, allergic cough, severe runny nose without color headache. Urgently seek help if there is an allergic swelling of the palate, tongue, larynx, shortness of breath, convulsions. These signs signal the development of angioedema, which can lead to death.

Types of ointments for allergies

An allergy remedy should cope well with swelling, itching and redness of the skin. The ointment cannot get rid of the initial cause of the disease, it is necessary to independently exclude contact with a possible allergen. Any drug will be ineffective if you continue to use a product that irritates the epidermis or eat honey, for example. The advantages of using an allergy cream on the face and body are many: a quick result due to the penetration of the drug into the focus of inflammation, moisturizing the epidermis, wound healing or erosion. In especially severe cases, you may have to adhere to complex therapy.

Ointments and creams for itching are divided into hormonal and non-hormonal. The choice depends on the type of allergic reaction, stage and form, symptoms and general condition of the patient. Non-hormonal creams are effective in cases where the disease manifests itself in a mild form. They begin to act instantly, but a person feels the result only after a few hours. Hormonal ointments for the skin are needed when an allergic reaction occurs on the face and body in moderate or severe form. It is recommended to use them for no more than 10 days, otherwise side effects may occur.

An allergic rash on the face, accompanied by an inflammatory process or suppuration, requires other drugs. A good result is achieved with antihistamine ointments with antibiotic and anti-inflammatory substances. In this case, the specialist will tell you how to deal with allergies better and how you can replace drugs, you can’t do it yourself. Some drugs are too aggressive on the body and tissues, causing necrosis of the latter.

In addition to chemicals, the negative effect is physical factors and plants, in this case we are talking about photo- or phytodermatitis. What ointment will help get rid of and will it be enough for a complete recovery?

A characteristic feature of allergic dermatitis is reddening of the skin after contact with the allergen. Then, blisters appear on the inflamed epidermis, which, bursting, become covered with crusts.

After they fall off, no traces remain on the skin. From the very beginning of the disease and the entire period of development of rashes, the patient is tormented by severe itching, which significantly worsens the quality of life and reduces the ability to work.

Self-administration of tablets for allergic dermatitis is not appropriate, since the wrong choice of drug can lead to the most unpredictable reactions.

Remember: any medicine should be prescribed only by a doctor!

The drug prevents the development of redness, even if the child long time, for example, all night, is in a wet diaper.

Ointments for allergic contact dermatitis

Allergic contact dermatitis is an inflammatory disease of the upper layers of the epidermis caused by direct exposure to allergens.

The disease can be caused by direct skin contact with various products containing nickel (fashion jewelry, nickel-plated items, buttons, coins, hair dye and some foodstuffs, etc.), latex (shoes, gloves, baby pacifiers and pacifiers , anesthesia, drainage products, infusion systems, inhalation masks, etc.), medications, household chemicals, etc. The chemical, getting on the skin, causes its irritation and provokes an allergic reaction, manifested by inflammation. Like other allergic reactions, contact dermatitis occurs only in persons predisposed to this disease, hypersensitive to certain substances. The main symptomatology of contact allergic dermatitis is skin redness, itching, vesicles with serous contents, erosion. For successful therapy this disease it is necessary to exclude contact of the allergen with the skin; the use of antiphlogistic ointments; antihistamines.

With the manifestation of skin inflammation, erosion, it is necessary to use ointments containing corticosteroids that help reduce inflammation - Lokoid, Advantan, Elidel and others.

Elidel cream- has anti-phlogistic property. It is used to treat: atopic, allergic dermatitis, eczema. The main active ingredient is pimecrolimus.

The remedy is recommended for use when the initial symptom of eczema appears. Helps prevent aggravation clinical manifestations. The cream is gently rubbed into the affected areas of the skin in the morning and evening with light massage movements. Use of the cream during pregnancy. Elidel can be prescribed during gestation, but only after consulting a specialist. The potential risk to the unborn child is minimal. During clinical studies, there was no teratogenic effect of the cream on the fetus.

Interaction with other drugs. Due to the very low penetration of the active ingredient, systemic absorption is unlikely. Elidel does not affect immune reactions after vaccination. Application to the vaccination site is contraindicated. To avoid negative interactions with the components of other drugs, Elidel should be used with them at different times.

Storage conditions. According to the instructions, Elidel should be stored in a tightly closed tube, in a dark, dry room with an air temperature of no more than 25 ° C. Freezing is not allowed.

The shelf life is about 2 years. With an open tube, the drug is suitable for use for 12 months.

Due to the above properties, it has a positive effect on the upper layers of the epidermis, eliminating redness, skin tightening, swelling, rashes, itching and burning.

Indicated for use in: allergic, contact, atopic dermatitis, as well as with neurodermatitis and eczema.

It is applied by application method to the lesions, once a day. The standard course of treatment is from 3 to 5 days. The use of ointment for a long time is undesirable.

Ointment for allergic contact dermatitis

In childhood, at the first signs and manifestations of allergic dermatitis, lotions, occlusive dressings with a 1% solution of tannin, rivanol 1: 1000, or fresh brewing of black tea are used, followed by the application of zinc-containing pastes, ointments, liniments for 5-7 days.

When acute inflammation with infiltration and hyperemia, it is recommended to use pastes and ointments that have antiphlogistic and keratoplastic effects (naftalan, salicylic, resorcinol, ichthyol, solcoseryl).

If a secondary bacterial infection joins, it is necessary to use antibiotic ointments (lincomycin, ruzam, fucidin).

In the absence of positive dynamics, local use of corticosteroid ointments is indicated, which have antiphlogistic, membrane-stabilizing, vasoconstrictive and antiproliferative properties.
