This, in turn, entails the processes of fermentation, decay, causes intoxication of the body, metabolic processes are disrupted. Consequently - overweight, slagging, poor health.

According to Shelton and his followers, separate food groups should not be combined with each other, they should be consumed only after the previous food has been digested and absorbed. Following the system of separate feeding, it is necessary to abandon tea and coffee, store juices, products containing preservatives, since the ingredients have already been mixed here.

Separate nutrition for weight loss has a main rule: never consume proteins with carbohydrates at the same time. For proteins to be assimilated, an acidic environment is needed; an alkaline medium is needed to break down carbohydrates. If you eat proteins together with carbohydrates, alkaline and acidic enzymes will be simultaneously released for assimilation, neutralizing each other. As a result, the digestion process will be noticeably slowed down, not all food will be processed in the stomach.

Based on the data on the composition of foods, for the digestion of which different enzymes are needed, Shelton derived combinations, the joint use of which is unacceptable:

  1. Protein + protein (especially saturated). You cannot combine, for example, meat and fish, add eggs or nuts to them. All of this contains protein that is qualitatively different from each other. To digest such dishes, a considerable amount of gastric juice is needed, processed and passed through digestive tract they will be very long. From here there is discomfort: gas formation, bloating, disturbances in the work of the intestines.
  2. Proteins + fats (including vegetable). Fat coats the stomach, preventing stomach acid from being produced in sufficient quantity to process and digest protein. As a result, food takes longer to digest, and some of it remains unprocessed.
  3. Proteins + acids. Sour fruits cannot be eaten together with protein foods: meat, eggs, cottage cheese. The acid secreted by the stomach is enough to break them down. Fruits only inhibit the process, cause increased acidity, heartburn. You cannot eat sour fruits immediately after protein: protein is digested mainly in the stomach, therefore it is there for 4-6 hours, while the absorption of fruits and berries occurs in the intestines, they are in the stomach for only half an hour. Staying here longer, they start to roam, everyone beneficial features break apart.
  4. Carbohydrates + acids. For the digestion of carbohydrates, an alkaline environment is required, while excessive acidity leads to the destruction of the ptyalin enzyme, which is necessary for the breakdown of carbohydrates.
  5. Carbohydrates + Carbohydrates. Rich in carbohydrates food inhibits the process of digestion and slows down the metabolism. Excess carbohydrates are stored in the body as fat. That is why you should not eat mashed potatoes with bread.
  6. Carbohydrates + Sugar. Sweet food doesn't go well with anything at all. If you really want to pamper yourself with a piece of cake or your favorite sweets, it is better to do it separately from the rest, as an independent meal, and not as an addition to it in the form of a dessert. It is better to eat sweets before lunch, so that this does not affect weight loss.
  7. Milk should not be consumed with anything, only as an independent drink that replaces food intake. In general, Sheldon believed that a person could do without milk. This is a kids product. Each animal has a special composition of milk (cow, goat, breast milk completely different in properties). It is practically not processed by the body, so there is little benefit from it.
  8. Melon is very useful, contains many vitamins and minerals, cleanses the body. But you need to eat it strictly separately. If consumed in conjunction with any other food, it will not be beneficial.

12 week split feeding system

This diet requires prior preparation. The refrigerator must be completely freed from products not included in the menu. Also, it will not be superfluous to consult a doctor. The diet cannot be altered. Skipping days is also prohibited. Correct sequence is very important in this system.

It is allowed to eat poultry, eggs, dairy products, light soup without potatoes.

The following food is allowed: any vegetables, rice, salads. The dish should contain many ingredients, but be served in small portions.

Allowed to eat pasta, pizza, flour dishes. Tomato paste is used as a sauce. Low-calorie biscuits and dark chocolate.

Fruit is allowed and nothing else. Mixing sweet and sour varieties should not be allowed.

There should be at least 3 hours between meals. Salads are seasoned with olive oil only.

During the month of the diet, the waist decreased by 5 cm, and the weight by 5 kg. I'm very happy. And all this has passed a month! Eliminated sweets, flour and fried foods from the diet.
