Sepia - how to take? "Sepia" - homeopathy: indications for use, description of the drug. Homeopathic remedies

  • Date: 07.04.2019

Question: Hello, dear Sergey Vadimovich!
I recently visited a homeopath. Together they found out that I am sepia. Symptoms include: bloating in the lower abdomen (congestion of blood to the uterus?), Constipation, hair loss, heels, and sweating of the hands and feet. I take sepia 50, diluted in 100 g of water, a teaspoon once a week and opium 12 - 3 pcs every morning. At first it helped, now I feel that either the dose of sepia needs to be changed, or it should be taken more often. How do you advise? Symptoms return on day 3. Can I take it every two days in the morning, or even daily? Thanks in advance.
Regards, Anna.

Answer: Hello Anna! It is a little strange that you consult with one doctor, but how to take medications, you ask another ... Your doctor did not give you detailed instructions? After all, if the doctor saw that it is necessary to take the medicine once a week, then it is better to take it this way, or to consult with him to adjust the treatment.
Sometimes, if necessary, I even prescribe 200 or 1000 dilutions to be taken every 5 minutes, because everything is individual, and the frequency of taking the medicine may depend on the severity of the process, and at the same time on the amount of "energy" in a person. In your description, you listed only particular symptoms, that is, those that take into account parts of the body - hair, intestines, skin of the feet, sweating, that is, those parts of the body that developed from the ectoderm of the embryo. What general signs of Sepia have you seen? At least one sign?

Question: Of the common signs - a depressed, oppressed state, indifference to loved ones, a desire to withdraw into oneself, to go into one's own problems.
The doctor gave instructions, but due to the fact that the symptoms began to return not a week after taking it, but 3-4 days later, it seemed to me that the dose was chosen incorrectly. And then it seemed to me that the medicine had stopped working. I went to the doctor again, she said that I needed to "give the medicine to work," but I waited, but nothing happened.

Answer: Hello Anna! "A depressed, oppressed state, indifference to loved ones, a desire to withdraw into oneself, to go into one's own problems." Which of these do you consider more important to yourself? Please tell us more about this. Or is there something else more important?

Question: Hello, Sergei Vadimovich.
Of the listed signs, I consider the desire to withdraw into oneself as the most important. It seems to me that all the others flow from it. All the time I want to be alone or with a loved one at the most, I just can't stand everyone else. People began to be treated more cynically. A lot of things began to annoy me for no reason, I break off at my parents in the morning and shield myself from them in every possible way in the evenings.
Regards, Anna.

Answer: Hello Anna! Tell us more about the desire to withdraw into yourself. How does it feel?

Question: Most of the head. Some kind of heaviness hangs over the forehead, in my soul I always want to bend over, and not stand straight. Even running was hard for some reason, my legs seemed heavier than they are. I also lost interest in life, in work, I walked all the time as if stuffed with cotton, I felt empty and heavy.

23:07 29.03.2010

Answer: Hello Anna! Tell us more about the feeling "like stuffed with cotton, I felt empty and heavy."

Question: It's already hard to describe. There are no thoughts in my head, it seems that I can only think about my problems. All the time I wanted to dissolve in the crowd, to find myself in the place of deployment, like shopping center, to be distracted by some little things. She reluctantly reacted to any suggestions to go somewhere, she preferred to be either at home, or alone for a walk, she closed herself at the institute. Making decisions was not easy for some reason.

Answer: Hello Anna! So far, the nautical theme of Sepia is not visible. Specify also how it can feel at the same time - "empty and heavy". These are your feelings, and no one except you will explain them.

Homeopath Grigor Sergei Vadimovich

An animal called Sepia, or cuttlefish, belongs to the category of Molluscs. The solid calcareous substance obtained from it is, as is known, used as feed for birds. This animal has a small sac, which contains a dark brown, almost black liquid. When a cuttlefish is chased by a large fish, it releases this liquid, which stains the water around it and thus facilitates its escape. For a long time it was thought that this is the only purpose of this liquid. It was assumed that this liquid is completely harmless to the human body. But since the experiments of Hahnemann showed the fallacy of this view, we have reason to assume that the cuttlefish also uses this liquid in order to kill the small fry that it hunts. It is this liquid that is usually designated in our pharmacology by the name Sepia. It is very often used by artists. The history of the introduction of this substance into our pharmacology is as follows. Hahnemann had a friend, an artist by profession, who became so ill that he could hardly perform his duties. Despite all the efforts of Hahnemann, his health did not recover. One day, while in his friend's workshop, Hahnemann noticed that he was using paint from Sepia and often wet a brush soaked in it in his mouth. The thought immediately flashed through Hahnemann's mind of the possibility that this might be the cause of the illness. He communicated his idea to the artist, but he stated positively that Sepia paint was completely harmless. However, on the advice of Hahnemann, the artist stopped wetting the brush in his mouth, and from that time his dark illness completely disappeared. Hahnemann then undertook a test on Sepia juice (succus sepiae). All the symptoms he observed have since been confirmed. In 1874, the American Homeopathic Institute, determined to re-examine all the old remedies, did so with Sepia. About 25 tests were done with Sepia from the 3rd to the 200th division. The results of the experiments were reported at the homeopathic congress in 1875. They showed that the research left to us by Hahnemann could not be further improved.

Sepia is a very valuable remedy. It works especially on the female body, although it also affects men. It is especially suitable for women of delicate constitution with thin skin, sensitive to all impressions, usually brunettes, although not necessarily, with a yellow-prone face and dark circles under the eyes.

She shows her attention to circulation, which is more and more considered as the experience continues. Very early, after already four hours, hot flushes develop. These hot flashes end in sweat, with a feeling of weakness, fainting. Any movement or exertion is accompanied by a hot fit or profuse sweat.

Along with this, irritation of the nervous system, expressed by anxiety, fear, etc.

These two series of symptoms indicate the disturbing effect of this remedy on the nervous system as well as on the vasomotor nerves. Hence the occurrence of a headache, various local blood flushes, etc.

These symptoms are followed by others, expressed by tissue relaxation and nervous weakness. The tester becomes lethargic, loses strength, faints. The joints feel relaxed, as if they could easily dislocate. The insides work sluggishly, and hence the well-known feeling of "freezing", etc. The prolapsed uterus fills with blood (swells), the stagnation in the portal vein system increases, and the liver becomes heavy and works sluggishly. The blood vessels are congested, and therefore the members feel soreness, weakness and fatigue. The general depressing effect develops further into severe weakness, fainting, trembling. The limbs feel heaviness, as if they were paralyzed; stiffness and heaviness in the legs, especially after sleeping.

The trailing muscles (sphincters), as well as all formations influenced by non-striated muscles, are sluggish. As a result, rectal prolapse, bowel and bladder emptying are slow and sluggish, etc., but still there is no complete paralysis.

Organic changes are expressed: on the part of the complexion by the fact that it is yellow, earthy; from the side of the secretions - their fetid, sour odor, causticity, etc., from the side of the skin in that fetid vapors are released through it, and it is prone to rashes, a change in its color, the formation of scales, ulcers, etc.

In short, Sepia has been found to work well for men, or more often for women who are puffy or lethargic, less often emaciated; with yellow or dirty yellow-brown acne prone skin; those prone to perspiration, especially on the genitals, armpits and back; suffering from hot flashes, headaches in the morning, numbness and fatigue on waking, and a tendency to diseases of the genitals. Men have sexual irritation, but without sufficient energy; intercourse causes great fatigue. Women are agitated, with hysterical seizures, or suffer from prolapse of the uterus, palpitations, rush of blood to various organs, fainting, etc. urine and clear signs of imperfect digestion and assimilation. The general impression is that we do not see strength and healthy contentment here, but on the contrary, the weakness of the connective tissues, lethargy and a slight onset of paresis.

We are now ready to go over the symptoms in detail and see if they support the comments we made above.

To understand the symptomatology of such an extensive remedy as Sepia, which has more or less 2000 in its pathogenesis important symptoms, we will analyze its effect on various fabrics. First of all - for blood.

Sepia causes a great disturbance of the blood circulation; some of the symptoms appear to be dependent on venous congestion, most dramatically in the portal vein system. Observing some of the symptoms based on this pathological condition, we find hot flushes that seem to start from the trunk and rise to the head, with which there is fear and usually depression, ending with sweat; pulsation throughout the body, especially in the epigastric region, in the region of the liver, in the region of the uterus and in the sacrum. This symptom is very common in hysteria and in pale sickness. Epistaxis from mechanical causes, such as a blow or a fall, or from being in a hot room, or from retention of menses. Beating pain in the uterus, the uterus on examination turns out to be swollen, bloodshot, sensitive to touch and, as we will see below, speaking of local symptoms, displaced. The hands are hot and the feet are cold; or, as soon as the feet become hot, the hands become cold. This is an excellent indication for Sepia.

Then look at the skin symptoms. Here again we find that its action is expressed by insufficient venous circulation. We know that when the vasomotor nerves are inactive, the skin is prone to the effects of irritation and especially herpetic (lichen) eruptions, and it is these rashes that Sepia cures. Small blisters appear, especially around the ulnar and knee joints... Ulcers can also form in the joints, especially on the joints of the hand fingers. In Sepia they are usually painless. This symptom, as far as I know, exists in only two other remedies, namely Borax and Mezereum. Sepia has been suggested as a remedy for herpes circinnatus.

Sepia also causes yellow-brown spots on the skin, itching, redness, vesicles that become wet and form abrasions of the skin, then peeling and pustules. In a warm room, a patient with urticaria (urticaria) feels tolerable, but the warmth of the bed increases the itching of the skin.

Sepia figures prominently in the treatment of psoria sis, although it ranks below Arsenicum and Arsenicum jodatum.

These yellow-brown spots are also removed by Lycopodium, Nux vomica and Sulfur. Dr. Baruch, of New York, uses Curare for this purpose.

Besides Sepia, Calcarea ostr., Baryta carb. Were recommended against ring-shaped lichen. and Tellurium. Baryta carb. never did any good in my hands.

Tellurium is useful against ring-shaped lichen eruptions in separate clusters.

In scabies, Sepia is indicated after Sulfur, when the pustules are mixed with itchy vesicles.

Sepia has a marked effect on connective tissue, weakening it and thereby causing a variety of symptoms. So, there is weakness of the joints, which easily appears when walking; weakness in the stomach, not relieved by food. This Sepia effect can be utilized in cases where joint dislocations occur easily.

Looking at the individual organs, we find that Sepia has a noticeable effect on the state of the psyche. It evokes a very characteristic mood that should always be there when Sepia is shown. The patient, usually a woman, is depressed, dejected and sobs easily. This discouragement is usually associated with irritability, which is almost never absent in women who require Sepia. In other cases, the patient shows complete indifference to everything.

This state of mind in Sepia is to be distinguished from that in Pulsatilla, Natrum muriat. and Causticum. Pulsatilla, however, is most analogous to it. Both she and Sepia induce a state of tearfulness, fear, excitement, ill disposition, concern for health, etc. But only with Pulsatilla the patient is affectionate, meek and seeks consolation, while with Sepia she is distinguished by angry irritability and cold indifference.

Natrum muriaticum complements Sepia. They both cause tearfulness, depression, constant recollection of past troubles, irritability, indifference, memory loss and mood swings. In the first there is a prominent symptom - "worse from consolation." Clinically, we can say the same for Sepia. With both remedies, the disease is aggravated by frustration or anger. They apparently agree that they cause weakness and irritability of the nerves, but their additional relation is that Sepia more causes vascular excitement, therefore, in Sepia, excitement causes a rush of blood to the chest and head; lively conversation produces heat in the face, followed by sweat. In Natrum muriat. symptoms indicate more than one nervous excitement or nervous weakness, therefore excitement causes severe headache; lively conversation, straightening the back, and unpleasant thoughts cause depression, paralytic weakness, or irritability without worry. If the patient is a hypochondriac, then this state of melancholy is caused by inactivity of the intestines, while in Sepia this same state also depends on stagnation in the portal vein system and is therefore more persistent and accompanied by more irritability. Natrum muriat. may be required when the state of the psyche depends on irregular menses or on a disease of the uterus, but this will only be prolapse, but not at all a rush to the uterus, as in Sepia. Indifference in Natrum muriat. depends on hopelessness and mental sluggishness, while in Sepia it contains an undisguised disgust for everything that is closest and dearest.

Causticum is disheartening, especially before menses. The face is yellow, fear is rather cowardice, fearfulness. The patient is full of forebodings. She is afraid of the possibility of unhappiness with her and with others.

Lilium tigrinum is very close to Sepia. It acts on the blood circulation, especially the venous one, and, like a reflex of uterine and ovarian irritation, with this there is a nervous irritation, there is a need for work, but it cannot work a lot; haste in manners. A depressed state, full of forebodings of the incurable illness, impending misfortune, etc.

The essential difference, however, is that the Lilium patient finds relief for herself by diverting her attention by some occupation, while the Sepia patient has several nervous symptoms which are relieved by vigorous exercise. In the first case, we have sexual erethism, facilitated in this way; in the latter case, relief generally occurs with an improvement in venous circulation, in which nervous erethism is only weak and is accompanied by a decreased sexual desire.

Hepar develops a state of mind that cannot be ignored. Sadness, unpleasant events are constantly remembered; sad mood in the evenings, even before thoughts of suicide; discontent.

Platinum is similar in its depressed mood, while there is a tendency to arrogance, or to fear, with the fear of immediate death; or to that limited mental state, when the patient feels personal superiority, in which “everything seems too petty; the mood is whiny. " And besides, as we'll see shortly, uterine symptoms make a significant difference.

Let us now examine the head symptoms of Sepia. There is a disease of the head called hemicrania, against which Sepia is one of the most important remedies. The symptoms showing it here are as follows: pain over one eye (maybe over both) of a striking character, deep stabbing pains that seem to nest in meninges; these pains almost always shoot upward or from the inside out. The patient cannot tolerate light, noise, or movement. In women, there is usually a soreness of the face and a change in the position of the uterus, or a disorder of menstruation. Twitching of the head back and forth is occasionally noticed, which has been a useful indication in nervous women (eg hysterical) and also in children with open fontanelles. In these cases we must not give Sulfur, Calcarea or this type of medicine. Sepia is also useful in gouty headaches, especially if they, like the pains of Nux vomica, are worse in the morning and are accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The liver is, of course, affected, and the urine is saturated with uric acid.

For migraines, you can compare Sepia with Belladonna, Sanguinaria, Iris versicolor, Pulsatilla, Nux vomica, and Theridion.

Belladonna should be chosen for migraines, when there is great hyperemia, with beating of the carotid arteries, redness of the face, and the patient cannot bear the slightest knocking, light, or noise. It is shown in obese subjects and not in lean subjects like Sepia.

Sanguinaria causes right-sided headache, with pain radiating from occiput. They intensify and weaken with the movement of the sun, reaching their highest tension at noon. The attacks end with copious urination (as in Silicea, Gelsemium, and Veratrum album). They come back every 7 days. Sanguinaria also has menstrual headache accompanying profuse regulation. With Sepia the menses are scanty. In Sanguinaria the pains on the right side, in Sepia they may appear on both.

Iris versicolor you will use for migraines, when the attack begins with darkening of the eyes and is accompanied by sour, watery vomiting. The pains occur in the region of the infraorbital and dental nerves, with a dull headache or accompanied by numbness.

Pulsatilla is very similar to Sepia. Both are indicated for scanty periods, for bursting, beating or boring, stabbing pains on one side of the head, blurred vision, with a white tongue, nausea and vomiting. Pulsatilla has the most vomiting, thick coated tongue, sticky mouth and better cold air. The pains are variable in nature and are accompanied by chilliness. They get worse in the evening. In Sepia the pains return in jolts or flashes, with a proportionate increase in heat in the head; darkening in the eyes is accompanied by heaviness of the eyelids; the face, though red with headache from both remedies, is usually yellow with Sepia and pale with Pulsatilla.

Nux vomica is more suitable for men than Sepia. It heals a pulling, excruciating sensation, as if a nail had been hammered into the head, or as if the brain had been smashed to pieces. The face is pale, yellowish or yellowish on a red base. The attacks begin early in the morning and usually drive the patient almost to the point of fury. As with Sepia, hemorrhoids, abdominal congestion, or cerebral fatigue may be the causative cause. In general, however, the two remedies are very different in their action.

Arsenicum album causes a throbbing, stupefying headache over the left eye. In this it is similar to Sepia, but the loss of strength and anxiety in these two remedies is very different, as is the degree of angry irritability, sometimes even cursing, which Arsenicum produces. It is only in Arsenicum that the headache is temporarily relieved by wetting the head with cold water.

Theridion, more precisely, flickering before the eyes, then blurred vision. The nausea from this remedy is aggravated by closing the eyes, and also by noise. The effect of noise is stronger than with Sepia. Apparently, it intensifies the pain and, as it were, penetrates to the teeth - so sensitive are the nerves to this kind of tremor.

Sepia is very useful in eye diseases. You will find it indicated in the weakness of sight accompanying the disease of the uterus. You can distinguish Sepia from other remedies by the time of the aggravation: the patient is usually worse in the evening, and in the morning and after midnight she feels quite well.

In conjunctivitis, Sepia is indicated when the inflammation is creeping, as is common in scrofulous children. Symptoms are subacute. Mucopurulent department in the morning. During the day the eyes are comparatively tolerable, while in the evening excruciating dryness of the eyes appears.

The rest of the Sepia ocular symptoms we can summarize as follows: cataract, trachoma, scaly inflammation of the eyelids; pustules on the eyelids, with a rash on the face; sensitivity of eyes to light, even with closed eyelids, eyelids droop; excruciating stitching pains worse from friction. Causes: diseases of the uterus or liver, scrofula. Worse, evening and morning, hot weather; better from cold washing and after midnight.

I have used Sepia for several years for blurred vision, etc., accompanying prolapse of the uterus (see also Ophthalmic Therapeutics, Norton Eye Disease Treatment). Mainly I found it valid in case of visual impairment (asthenopia), which is in connection with exhaustion, depending on the loss of semen, regardless of whether it is voluntary or involuntary. In this respect Sepia is similar to Natrum mur., Lilium tigrinum, Jaborandi, Kali carbon. The first of them, in addition, has muscle weakness (internal rectus muscles of the eye), a feeling of tightness in the muscles when they move, etc. Letters or lines run across each other, but there is no sudden darkening of vision, so clearly expressed in Sepia.

Lilium tigrinum produces sharp pain in the eyes; blurred vision with heat in the eyelids and eyes, sharp pains in the left eye — in this symptom it is similar to Sepia. She also has burning, sharp pains in the eyes after reading, better in the open air, as in Pulsatilla, spasm of accommodation. (See Jaborandi).

Cyclamen and Pulsatilla may also be considered with Sepia in sudden darkening of vision; the first for heavy and dark menses, and the second for lean and dark menses. But Cyclamen blindness accompanies a one-sided headache in the left temple, with pallor of the face, nausea felt in the throat, and poor digestion.

In Pulsatilla, which you may also use for conjunctivitis, there is a mucopurulent discharge, but it is not corrosive and worse at night, with sticking of the eyelids in the morning. On the eyelids, gentle granulation. The patient is prone to repeated, severely inflamed barley.

You can use Graphites when the corners of the eyes are cracked and bleeding, and the edges of the eyelids are pale, swollen and scaly.

Thuja - When brown bran-like crusts accumulate on the eyelashes, there are small, wart-like tumors in the cartilage of the eyelids.

Nux vomica is required for eye diseases due to liver disease. Symptoms are worse in the morning and some are better with cold bathing.

Natrum muriat. like Sepia it is indicated in diseases of the eyes, as a reflex from the disease of the uterus, the eyelids droop. But with Natr. mur. inflammation of the connective membrane has a more spasmodic closure of the eyelids, the separation is liquid and caustic; cracks in the corners of the eyes, as well as in the corners of the mouth; pain over eyes worse looking down.

Alumina also has drooping of the eyelids, dryness, burning, blurred vision; but Alumina is worse in the evening and at night. The inner corners of the eyes are affected.

Next, let's look at the effect of Sepia on the abdominal organs. We find it shown in that form of dyspepsia, depending on diseases of the uterus, when it is accompanied by a feeling of weakness and emptiness in the epigastric region or in the abdomen, with a sour or bitter taste in the mouth and a desire to eat something sour, pickles, etc .; the satisfaction of this desire, invisibly, relieves these symptoms. The tongue is coated white, usually constipation, the stool is hard, dry and scanty, or even if not hard, it is difficult to remove. The abdomen is distended and distended with gas; there is almost always soreness in the area of the liver. On examination, the liver is enlarged not as a result of fatty or amyloid degeneration, but as a result of a rush of blood.

Hemorrhoids also indicate Sepia, when there is bleeding during stool, with a feeling of fullness in the rectum, as if it were distended by some foreign body, which, as it were, provokes the urge to have a bowel movement. The urine has a peculiar offensive odor and is very cloudy. When standing, it gives a precipitate of uric acid, which adheres tightly to the walls of the vessel.

Lycopodium is a worthy rival to Sepia in the condition just described. The difference between the two can be summed up in a few words.

The feeling of emptiness in the epigastric region is more characteristic of Sepia; the feeling of fullness after eating is more characteristic of Lycopodium. Indeed, with the latter remedy, the feeling of fullness obscures the remaining symptoms, which often exist without any change in the state of the tongue. Sour taste and sour or burning eructations are, however, very common. Fermentation occurs in the stomach. After eating, blood circulation is disturbed and an irresistible tendency to sleep appears. The urine contains a brick-colored sediment. Descending constipation with constriction of anus. But urine is not as offensive as in Sepia.

Sulfur is similar to Sepia in many ways. Both are suitable for sluggish cases with insufficient response. Stagnation of blood in the abdominal cavity, liver, hemorrhoids, constipation, hunger at about 11 am; bitter or sour taste, sour or rotten egg-tasting belching; a feeling of fullness from a small amount of food, etc. With Sulfur, the face is more acne, red and at times covered with white spots. The saliva makes the patient nauseous. Vomiting of food, the patient wants vodka or beer and sweets, but he does not like the latter. He feels hungry at 11 o'clock in the morning, while with Sepia there is a feeling of weakness and faintness. Constipation is accompanied by an unsuccessful urge to descend, as in Nux vomica.

For the feeling of weakness, emptiness in the epigastric region, cf. Sepia with Calcarea ostrearum, Cocculus, Kali carb., Stannum, Ignatia, Carbo anim., Sarsaparilla, Oleander, Ipecacuanna, Thea, Staphysagria, Actea rac. and Hydrastis.

In Cocculus, weakness extends over the whole abdomen and chest. It is difficult for the patient to speak. This feeling is renewed with excessive exertion and especially with loss of sleep.

With Kali carb. a feeling of emptiness before eating, out of proportion to the feeling of emptiness due to hunger, with abnormal bloating after eating, especially after even a small amount of soup.

In Stannum, the feeling continues after eating and extends over the whole chest.

In Ignatia it is accompanied by yawning.

In Sarsaparilla it is accompanied by a rumbling in the abdomen.

Oleander has a bloated feeling; feeling of coldness and emptiness in the chest.

Actea racemosa is an excellent remedy when, with a feeling of emptiness and faintness in the epigastric region, there is a tremor, a sensation of a wave-like movement extending from the stomach throughout the body.

Hydrastis relieves when there is a feeling of subsidence, the palpitations and stools are covered with mucus.

Thea causes a feeling of fading, fainting; headache with nausea, spreading from one point, and pain in the left ovary.

Let's go back to our study of Sepia. Going lower and lower in the abdomen, we find that it has a very noticeable effect on the uterus with its appendages, causing, as I mentioned last time, stagnation of blood in the uterus and its displacement. In the old case of Sepia, the uterus is enlarged and the cervix hardens. The uterus presents phenomena of prolapse or backward bending. Leucorrhoea is a very prominent symptom; they are yellowish-green in color and have a slightly foul odor. Along with these objective symptoms, we find dragging down pains in the abdomen and sacrum. They are so strong that they seem to take your breath away. Sometimes the patient feels as if something is sticking out through the genital slit. This feeling seems to be ameliorated by sitting cross-legged. Together with pressing down, there is pain in the back - in the lumbar or sacral region. This pain increases markedly when the patient stands or walks. There are burning pains in the uterus and sometimes sharp pains shooting upward, or there is a sensation as if the uterus were being compressed by the hand (Cactus and Lilium have this symptom). Menses are usually late and scanty, although, as an exception, they can be early and profuse.

The most similar to Sepia is Lilium tigrinum, for whose research we owe to Dr. W. Pane of Bath, Main. He undertook his experiments after observing one case where the flowers of this plant caused convulsions in a child. He thought this remedy would prove to be valuable against seizures in children. In these experiments he was assisted by Dr. Dunham and several ladies. During these studies, he observed seizures, but in almost every case, changes in the functions of the uterus and ovaries were noticed. The uterine symptoms of Lilium tigrinum are those which often follow pregnancy and childbirth. This is shown in cases of subinvolution and childbirth; the uterus does not return to its normal size after delivery. When the patient gets up and begins to walk, the uterus collapses due to its own weight. The patient complains of heaviness and a pulling feeling, mainly in the lower abdomen. She feels the need for some kind of support for her abdominal organs. This is very similar to Sepia. In Sepia, the woman sits cross-legged, thus providing artificial support for the uterus. Leucorrhoea are also very similar. In Sepia they are yellowish green, somewhat offensive, and often bruising. In Lilium, the most characteristic leucorrhoea, in my opinion, is watery, yellowish or yellowish-brown, and corrosive. This corrosive property of them is quite characteristic of Lilium. The Lilium protesters had on two occasions prolapsed uterus and on one occasion it was tilted backwards. With Lilium there is an urge to urinate; urine, when passing, causes itching and burning - the same sensation in the opening of the urethra as leucorrhoea causes in the outer genitals. You will also find the urge to go down; diarrhea in the morning, lifting the patient out of bed, and the stool is yellow, soft, and causes a raw sensation in the anus. In this Lilium converges with Sulfur, which is characterized by early morning diarrhea. In Lilium the symptoms are usually worse in the afternoon, while in Sepia they are ameliorated at this time of day.

Lilium has several breast symptoms worthy of mention. Patients experience a feeling of fullness and tightness in the chest, as if too much blood has accumulated in it; they ask to open the windows, as the fresh air makes them easier. This tightness in the chest is due to venous congestion. With this feeling of oppression there is a taste of blood in the mouth, reminiscent of the same symptom in Pulsatilla and Hamamelis. Feeling like a rivet or a bullet in the breast area; also a feeling of coldness in the region of the heart. Natr. mur. cures this last symptom if it appears during mental exertion; Lilium is when it is a consequence of a disease of the uterus. Dr. R. Huges reports a case with this symptom, which he cured with Petroleum.

Helonias, according to Denham, causes deep melancholy, deep, unaccountable depression, with a feeling of soreness and heaviness in the uterus, "the consciousness that there is a womb." Lilium darkens the mind, evokes a feeling of haste, with weakness and anxiety based on a premonition of some fatal or serious illness. Further, Helonias is an excellent remedy for excruciating soreness and a slight burning sensation in the back and legs. It is quite common in women, and no remedy except Acidum picricum cures this symptom faster than Helonias. The weakness of Helonias is the result of malnutrition of the body. Experiments have clearly proved the fact that from its use there is a decrease in red blood cells and a general depletion of blood.

Sulfur is often needed to help Sepia in chronic cases. Their complementary ratio lies in their common ability to reduce blood flow to abdominal organs and other circulatory irregularities. Sometimes, when using the last remedy, a feeling of faintness and hunger is noticed at 11 o'clock in the morning, or persistent flushes of heat; or a one-sided headache persists and relieves the patient. Hemorrhoids get worse. The downward pressure becomes constant, with a feeling of weakness in the genitals. Then Sulfur is prescribed and the improvement is seen immediately. However, after a certain time has elapsed, the symptoms change sharply in favor of Sepia, and so the two alternate with each other. There have been many such cases. One patient from the West was completely cured by these two remedies and remained healthy. Before that, she had been ill for several years.

Murex, from the class of molluscs, has a family similar to Sepia. His research is still scarce. But clinical observation has confirmed some of the symptoms. Dr. Denham, followed by Dr. Betts, compared Murex with Sepia and provided sufficient guidance for differentiating these remedies.

Murex, like Sepia, produces uterine congestion, a sinking feeling in the stomach, irritation of the bladder, muscle weakness, and mental dullness. But it differs in that it causes sexual arousal; "Passion is so strong that it tires the mind", "Sexual desire is renewed at the slightest touch."

The discharge is more profuse than is usually the case with Sepia. So, menstruation, instead of scanty, are abundant. Profuse urination at night; the urine is pale; the patient suddenly wakes up and feels the strongest urge to urinate. It is not so noticeable with Sepia. But with both remedies there are intermittent periods.

Both are useful in cervical ailments: Murex, when there is a soreness, or sore point in the basin "(Betts). Shooting pains upward in the abdomen or chest; thick, green, or bloody leucorrhoea. In sexual arousal, Murex is closer to Lilium and Platinum, and in urinary symptoms to Kreosotum.

It has been used clinically for diabetes with frequent urging at night.

Kreosotum has a sudden urge; the patient cannot get out of bed soon enough; urinates very quickly and removes a large amount of urine at a time; offensive urine.

Kreosotum also bears some resemblance to Sepia. Both have intermittent periods, downward stretching in the back, and external pressure in the genitals; painful copulation; vomiting during pregnancy; urine produces a red sediment, turbid and offensive. But menses are usually profuse. They are accompanied by reflex symptoms somewhat different from those of Sepia, namely, difficulty of hearing with ringing and noises in the head. The stretching in the back is ameliorated by motion, not intensified as in Sepia. The leucorrhoea is more acrid, irritating, and causes abrasions on the parts over which they flow. Sometimes they are yellow in color and smell like fresh green bread.

This acrid leucorrhoea clearly marks the difference between Kreosotum and Sepia and Murex. This led to the use of this remedy for cancerous and other ulcerations of the uterine cervix. And we prescribe it if there is a burning sensation, tenderness and swelling of the neck, with bloody discharge, sensitivity to touch or intercourse, and putrefactive decomposition foreign to the other remedies mentioned.

Stannum is like Sepia in simple prolapse of the uterus and vagina, with a feeling of "fading", pressing down, melancholy. It is characterized by prolapse of the uterus and vagina during difficult bowel movements. Dr. Hughes recommends it to alleviate the pushing down sensation so common in women, and adds: “I was simply amazed at the power of its prolapsus effect; it seems to strengthen the uterine ligaments. " (Pharmacodynamics, 4th Edition).

Nux vomica is similar to Sepia in causing stagnation in the portal vein system, stagnation of blood in the uterus, hemorrhoids; urge to the bottom; back pain worse from motion; waking up at 3 o'clock in the morning. But Nux vomica causes a kind of irritability of tissues, making the patient too susceptible, and his functions are sent by attacks, spasmodically, and not harmoniously. Gastric symptoms predominate, and they are exactly what arise in nervous persons from the abuse of stimulants, from heavily seasoned food, etc. So, after dinner, the patient's clothes are constraining; the urge to vomit prevails over real vomiting. There is nausea, weakness, and a feeling of faintness after eating, as if from a strong laxative; but there is never a "fading" of Sepia or Murex. There are frequent, but no results urge to down. Menses are very early, although not very profuse, and are accompanied by more violent spasmodic pains and spasmodic stomach movements than in Sepia, but with less downward pressure and stretching. Nux has one symptom which is common with a ruptured perineum, which is internal swelling and burning in the vagina, as if it were prolapsed.

Aloe acts on the liver, increases the secretion of bile, causes contractions in the intestines and diarrhea. Its action on the intestines and on the uterus reminds us of Sepia, for it causes stagnation of blood in these organs, with overflowing veins and successive irritation. But relaxation, expressed in Sepia by stretching and "sinking", with weakness of the sphincters, appears in Aloe in the form of a more complete atony, in the form of paresis. It is expressed as heaviness with downward pressure. This heaviness is seen in the pelvis, uterus, perineum, rectum, sacrum, and in the lower intestine. In fact, it is common, characterizing even a headache; dull headache in the entire forehead; with heaviness in the eyes and nausea, - you have to squint your eyes in pain, - heaviness in the back of the head. That these headaches depend on diseases of the intestines and uterus is proved by the fact that they alternate with the symptoms of the latter (as in Podophyllum).

Along with the heaviness and rush of blood is the relaxation of the sphincters. The patient does not trust her sphincters; she is afraid that the bowel movements will not come out with the gases; feces and urine come out at the same time; every time the patient urinates, she feels as if a little liquid feces are being released; sudden urge in the morning.

So, Aloe is necessary when, with the rush of blood to the uterus and its prolapse, there is a heaviness in the abdomen and back and a weakening of control over the rectum. The woman often suffers from intestinal relaxation. Without any precursors, she suddenly feels faint, with a feeling as if she is about to have diarrhea. During bowel movement, more gas is released than feces, and the patient becomes weak and covered with sticky sweat. If the patient has hemorrhoidal cones, then they bulge and are relieved by cold lotions.

Podophyllum reminds of itself here. It also acts on the liver, causing diarrhea and prolapse of the uterus and rectum; feeling of emptiness in the epigastric region; pain in the ovaries (right) and down the anterior femoral nerve. Burning in the lower abdomen and in the sacral region, with delay in menstruation.

His prolapse of the uterus, however, comes close to Stannum: pressing down, as if the genitals want to come out during stool. In Stannum, however, this is only reported to happen with hard stools; in Podophyllum, due to the strongest relaxation in the pelvic region.

Podophyllum appears to affect primarily the stomach and liver, and then uterine and rectal symptoms develop. Therefore, we see that it is most effective when its gastric symptoms coincide with those of the uterus. Like Sepia in causing downward thrust in the lower abdominal and sacral regions, relieved by lying down, and pain in the ovaries, it differs from it in gastro-hepatic symptoms; fullness, heaviness and stretching in the liver, soreness; ameliorated by rubbing. Diarrhea only early in the morning or during the day; the chair is sometimes perfectly correct, but too frequent. Watery, pouring diarrhea from 3 am to noon. Prolapsed anus before stool. After stool, a feeling of weakness and lightheadedness in the abdomen, weakening and prolapse of the rectum. This weakness is similar to Aloe. It is paresis from a strong laxative, not a general relaxation of Sepia.

Pulsatilla nigricans is very closely related to Sepia. It cures: scanty, late periods, pressing down, uterine cramps, back pain, fainting, migraine, hysterical headache (clavus). Suitable for women who are indecisive, compliant, whiny, or for those who are silent, capricious, who cannot be pleased with anything. Restlessness, which rises, as it were, from the epigastric region or from the heart, with nausea. Anxiety, as if in a hot atmosphere, and also at night, as if from heat. Faintness, nothing to breathe. Chilliness, although in the open air it is usually better; chills along with pain; anemia, pale illness (chlorosis).

Pulsatilla uterine pains are cutting, pressing with a heavy feeling, converging to the external genitals. Feeling of heaviness as if from a stone; it is observed in the lower abdomen and in the sacral region. Pulling, colic and cramping pains predominate; real downward pressure is less pronounced. Therefore, we so often use it with delayed menstruation and childbirth. It acts in seizures, so uterine pains appear in seizures and contractions, as is the case with menstruation; labor attempts are spasmodic, irregular, and finally stop with complete inactivity of the uterus. Thus, from the very beginning there is a lack of strength, which is expressed by periodic contractions and, finally, their complete cessation. Sepia causes more pressing down with convulsions. During childbirth, it is shown when a hardened and uncompromising cervix slows down labor. And then there may be spasmodic contractions of the pharynx of the uterus and pain shooting upwards. Here Sepia helps Gelsemium and Calcarea, while Pulsatilla helps Caulophyllum and Secale.

By temperament, the Pulsatilla patient is whiny, meek, or capricious, whimsical, obstinate; the Sepia patient is whiny, depressed, but easily irritated and excited, or indifferent.

As already mentioned. Sepia is used for congestion of blood or induration of the cervix, with soreness and burning. Aurum, Aurum muriaticum and Aurum muriaticum natronftum act in a similar way. But although Gold (Aurum) causes hyperemia, it works quite differently from Sepia. When studying its action, the predominance of two related symptoms is striking, namely: nervous excitement and vascular irritation. And, nevertheless, the former is as little indicative of nervousness as the latter is of true plethora. They indicate irritable weakness. Stagnation of blood in the liver, kidneys and uterus, invisibly, appear a second time, following cardiac irritation and hyperemia.

With prolonged use of Aurum, a fever similar to that of mercury poisoning develops, with profuse sweat, salivation, and profuse urination. There is also a tendency to overgrowth of connective tissue, resulting in cirrhosis. The glands, at first irritated, sometimes swell and harden. The periosteum becomes ill, and eventually a carious process develops in the bones.

In connection with these changes, there are the characteristic symptoms of Aurum: the patients are easily infuriated at the slightest contradiction; cheerfulness; the most obstinate condition is melancholy and disgust for life with suicidal tendencies. The patient thinks that she has lost the affection of her friends, that fate is against her, that she is no longer needed in this world and therefore she wants to die. The patient experiences a nagging feeling of tightness in the chest with rapid or prolonged walking, with a feeling of bursting fullness. Bruised pain in uterine region. Ballroom is too sensitive to pain, nervous, trembling, agitated. The uterus is full of blood and falls out due to its heaviness. Sexual feeling is enhanced.

Platinum is like Aurum on the one hand and Sepia on the other. With Platinum, there is a strong fear of death, which seems to the patient very close and inevitable. Things in her own home seem unfamiliar to her when she returns home after a short absence. She looks down on people, as on miserable, insignificant creatures, standing much lower than her. Likewise, the objects around her seem smaller to her than in reality.

Neither Aurum nor Sepia can match Platinum. The menses in Platinum are profuse, clotted, and not scanty as in Sepia.

Platinum and Sepia produce cramps in the uterus, but with the last remedy they are cramping, as if the uterus were suddenly contracting and then relaxed, while in the former there is a real cramp with numbness, a symptom characteristic of this remedy.

Carbo animalis is equal, if not superior, to Sepia in induration of the cervix, with burning, tearing pain in the genitals, similar to labor pains in the pelvis and sacrum; yellowish leucorrhoea; menses are accompanied by severe weakness, the patient can hardly speak; fading, food is no better. The patient seeks solitude; avoids all conversation; longing and strong arousal... Carbo acts on the veins, favors the development of fetid winds, fetid sections and abrasions, the latter being superficial and irregular in shape. Inflammation is sluggish, but has a tendency to suppuration or necrosis of parts, with burning pains, great weakness and loss of strength.

Carbo veg. Causes downward pressure in the rectum and vagina; the pharynx of the uterus is unusually open; heaviness in the uterus and in the right ovary; periods have strong smell; leucorrhoea cause abrasions on the genitals in places with abrasions, stitches, itching, burning and aphthous plaque. Anxiety, with veins filling; excruciating, nervous sensation in the uterus, reaching a high tension in the thighs.

So Carbo should be taken if there is induration or ulceration, with "venous", offensive, acrid secretions, and with stomach upset characterized by the accumulation and passing of fetid flatus.

Carbo veg. Can cure varicose veins of the genitals with blue and burning - bluish tumors (Carbo anim. Preferred if they are hard), ulcers, fistulas, vaginal discharge if they are acrid, thin and chlorous, whereas in Sepia they are less pungent and thicker. Burning in sacrum, stretching from abdomen to sacrum. Burning pain deep in pelvis, sometimes worse, sometimes better (Leadam).

Carbo animalis inflicts severe pressure on the back, groin and thighs during menses, with sterile eructations. It differs from Sepia in the throbbing headache after menses. He also has copper-colored blackheads on his face.

Graphites are impure coal containing traces of iron. It combines offensive discharge, flatulence and cutaneous acne symptoms with anemia.

According to Duanham, the onset of menses is accompanied by various additional symptoms, as in Sepia.

This remedy has not been often suggested in prolapsed uterus, but it is quite indicated if there is a sensation as if the uterus was pressing out the vagina; lead heaviness in the abdomen; shooting, similar to electric shocks, down to the hips (Leadam).

The leucorrhoea is profuse, comes on in jerks and causes diaper rash. This remedy attacks the ovaries more violently than Sepia; the left ovary is indurated, swollen, painful when touched.

Like Sepia, it causes inflammation and cracked nipples. It is very useful for softening or removing scar tissue in breasts (similar to Phytolacca).

But Graphites is best suited for anemic, albeit obese women who are constantly chilly, constipated, and prone to coarseness and lichen eruptions on the skin. The eruptions are moist, and the sweat is offensive, as in Sepia; but only Graphites has a pronounced stickiness of the compartments. The skin becomes tough, cracks and bleeds. Less flaking than Sepia.

Graphites, in its effect on scar tissue and induration, should be useful in softening the uterine cervix when, as is often the case, rupture remains unhealed and is a source of irritation.

Natrum carbonicum and other sodium salts complement Sepia.

Carbonic acid salt (Natrum carb.) Is required when there is downward pressure, as if everything is going out; melancholy, suspicion, excessive sensitivity to music. Back pain very similar to Sepia; heaviness, worse sitting, better walking; bruising in the back at night, constriction, drilling from the top of the left shoulder blade through and through. The skin is dry and rough.

Natrum muriaticum is suitable for anemic women with a thin, emaciated face and general emaciation. They are sad, easily angry, suffer from faintness, palpitations, tremors, fears and prevailing chilliness; a tendency to sweat; sweating under the arms with chilliness in the back; prolapse of the uterus; convulsions, scanty periods, urine with red sediment; painful coitus. In this he is similar to Pulsatilla and Sepia. But consolation worsens (in Pulsatilla, the patient easily calms down, seeks consolation); headaches due to hyperemia, pseudopletoric, with burning pains, worse from the slightest movement, even from the movement of the eyes; the mucous membranes hurt, as in Sepia, but they are abnormally dry; therefore, the tongue feels dry, the eyelids are dry, dry and burning pain in the rectum, etc. In addition, there is a tendency to abrasions with a sharp burning sensation, therefore the tongue is painful and ulcerated; gums hurt and bleed. The skin is unnaturally dry. Prolapse of the uterus worse in the morning, must sit up to prevent it, with back pain ameliorated by lying on the back. Tension in the lower abdomen and groin, as if the skin were tight (Apis). Leucorrhoea greenish, with burning itching and dryness. Cut in the urethra, most noticeable after urinating. Menses are scanty, or scanty for 1-2 days, and then profuse.

Natrum hypochlorosum changes the case. According to the tests of Dr. R. T. Cooper, it is useful in weakened persons with weak muscles, mentally and physically flaccid. This weakening is accompanied by emaciation, nervous exhaustion and other signs of profound changes in the body. Dizziness to fainting, pain in the forehead and downward pressure of the uterus; sensation of whirling, as if the top of the head was floating up. Pain in forehead and eyes, or vertex, with uterine symptoms. The brain seems paralyzed, limbs, fingers go numb, fainting. Tongue swollen with imprints of teeth; flatulence, constipation, bloating after eating, choking from the accumulation of gas - all these indicate abdominal congestion.

These symptoms are found in connection with diseases of the uterus. Menses, coagulated, black, drowsiness, dark circles under the eyes. Pressing down on the uterus, which can be hyperemic, enlarged and sensitive: blood constantly oozes from it, more strongly with any exertion. The uterus opens and closes, as it were; this does not quite correspond to the contraction and relaxation of Sepia. Feeling as if the uterus was moving upward when the patient sits down (symptom also Ferrum jodat.). Bloating at the very bottom of the abdomen, which, rising up to the chest, causes shortness of breath; worse after eating. Heaviness descends from the epigastric fossa down to the abdomen, with pain in the crown of the head. Swelling in the ovarian region during menstruation. Natrum hypochlorosum appears to cause the prolapsed uterus to return to its normal position, recalling one of Dr. Jackson's experiments with Sepia. Itching (pruritus). Feeling of weakness in the chest. The heat is very relaxing. The latter also occurs in Sepia, Natrum muriat. and Natrum carbon.

Actea racemosa is invaluable in the treatment of women. It is especially suitable for those who are prone to muscle rheumatism and muscle pain. It causes hyperemia of the brain and spinal cord and even their inflammation. From here there are pains in the back of the head, lightning pains, delirium, etc. (see below). In this she resembles Absinthium, Abrotanum, Gelsemium; with the latter remedy, however, there is greater drowsiness and muscle paresis, with less agitation. Sepia also causes an oozing of the vessels of the spinal cord, but to a lesser extent than Actea, more passive, more sluggish (torpid). The sensory nerves in Actea are excited and at the same time, like the motor nerves and muscles, they are weak. The heart works weakly and nervously; the pulse is either very fast and weak, or very slow and intermittent. At the same time, urine in scanty amounts, deposits a red or yellow sediment. General feeling of uncomfortableness, restlessness and anxiety, or trembling, nervous trembling. Muscles feel sore, bruised, stiff; hard muscle pains with a feeling of numbness. The pains are severe, lightning-like. Philis is recommended even for general edema, with the aforementioned cardiac and urinary conditions, "even when Digitalis has no effect."

Actea is thus a remedy primarily for "irritable weakness." Here, as in Sepia, nervousness, anxiety, melancholy, scanty periods with pressing down are noted, etc. She becomes suspicious, irritable and feels dizzy, as if she were poisoned. All these symptoms form part of the general nervous state, depending on the irritated state of the uterus and ovaries, or at least maintained by it. The patient suffers more from neuralgia than in Sepia; dull pain from occiput to crown; excruciating pain in the eyeballs; sharp pains from the eyes to the top of the head, with redness of the eyes, their blood pouring out - all this is due to the kink or irritability of the uterus. Neuralgic pains in and around the uterus are also very important; the uterus is sensitive to touch; pains shoot across from one side to the other; pressing down, with tension around the hips; menses are scanty, pains before and during menstruation. Sepia may be needed in case of weakness of sight, as a reflex from the side of the uterus; Actea rather - with retinal hyperesthesia or with ciliary neuralgia, as a reflex from the side of the uterus. Both remedies are very useful in the climacteric period; Sepia - against hot flashes; Actea, according to Yuzu, against irritability, pain in the crown of the head and stomach.

Kali ferrocyanatum eases downward pressure; purulent leucorrhoea, copious but not irritating; sad mood, even reaching tears. Feeling of emptiness in the hypogastric region. Passive bleeding from the uterus, followed by weakness.

But these effects should not be confused with those of Sepia, for Kali ferrocyanatum is a strong poison acting on the muscles and heart, etc. The feeling of emptiness in the stomach is due to the weakening of the heart, the beats of which decrease in number and strength, causing a cold snap. lightheadedness, dizziness, numbness, and trembling. Therefore, this remedy is suitable for those who are exhausted, when the heart begins to weaken. When the heart is weak, it comes close to Kali carbon.

Calcarea ostrearum (carbonica) causes pressure in the lower abdomen with exertion. Pressing down, worse standing; pain in the hips. Sore pain, worse standing upright or bending back. Tingling in the cervix, stitching. But menses are profuse, very early, and general symptoms are well known to be very different from the symptoms of Sepia.

Calcarea phosphorica (like Phosphorus) produces a faint feeling of faintness in the epigastric region; a feeling of emptiness in the stomach. Prolapse worse during stool or urination, with a feeling of weakness and pain. Pain in the uterus. Cut through the sacrum. Creamy leucorrhoea. Burning in the vagina, with pain on either side of the bladder and uterus; burning as if by fire towards the chest. Hot flashes, fear, lightheadedness, weakness; the patient sweats easily.

But menses are profuse and there is sexual arousal. The patient is weak and emaciated, consumptive; she suffers from local profuse perspiration, which, however, does not have the offensive odor as in Sepia. Every influence of a cold increases her rheumatic pains and with it her pain in the uterus.

For the rest of the tools, I briefly reviewed the following:

Mitchella - The neck is bloodshot, dark red, swollen. This is accompanied by irritation of the bladder neck, urge to urinate. Here, however, there is no common resemblance to Sepia. This remedy can sooner be placed next to Eupatorium purpureum, irritability of the bladder in women (Hughes); Hydrocotyle, - irritation of the bladder neck; the cervix is red, with heat and itching in the vagina (Dr. Mitchell); Vespa, ulcer around uterine pharynx, and Apis, dysuria.

Sepia should not be confused with Secale cornutum and Ustilago, for although they all cause downward pressure, hyperemia, excruciating anxiety, and prolapse of the uterus, the conditions are quite different. The latter two act on the muscle layer of blood vessels and, in general, on involuntary muscle fibers. Secondly, due to abnormal relaxation, they favor swelling, passive bleeding. Their "pushing down" is continuous, clearly expressed (like Caulophyllum). Ustilago relieves uterine bleeding; also vomiting of blood in one lady with uterine disease; passive bleeding; the finger on examination stumbles upon a soft, loosened neck and becomes stained with blood (Wooddbury).

Viburnum opulus has caused and cured pains like Sepia in the pelvis, in the uterus, and also "fading", a feeling of emptiness in the stomach; pushing down; "nervousness". But the downward pressure is much stronger and goes into a violent convulsion in the uterus, reminiscent of Caulophyllum, Actea racem., Secale, etc., rather than Sepia.

Inula and Hedeoma have been tested, but clinical observations are still lacking. Like Sepia, they cause pain in the uterus and downward pressure; the first - twitching in the genitals, back pain, urge to lower and urinate; the second is pushing down with great weakness in the legs.

Sepia has relieved chorea-like symptoms on several occasions; sudden jerking of the head back and forth; cramp in the stomach, then rising to the throat.

Among similar products, we must not forget Zizia. It causes congestion of blood to the uterus, pain, itching, burning in the back; spasmodic movements of the face and limbs. The most characteristic feature however, there are restless, choreic movements, worse during sleep.

When prolapsed uterus is a symptom of a general eating disorder with little or local congestion, Sepia gives way to Aletris, Caulophyllum, Abies canadensis, Lac. defloratum, Calcarea phosphor., Natrum muriat., Helonias, Natrum hypochlorosum.

With threatened miscarriage, Sepia is indicated not so much by pain as by signs of circulatory disorders. A common, eminently characteristic of Sepia is the symptom noted by Dr. Guernsey; feeling of heaviness in the anus, as if from a heavy ball.

This last symptom belongs only to Sepia, and differs considerably from the urge to down with Nux and Sulfur, from pressure with Lilium, and from fullness and heaviness with Aloe. In this latter case, there is also a feeling of a lump wedged between the pubic fusion and the coccyx.

Sepia (according to Vithoulkas)

SEPIA SUCCUS (sep.) (First type)

Studying Sepia stagnates. Static arising from actions at a dynamic level. A situation when these two poles of the body's energy meet and cause a state of non-existence (naturally, there is a bipolar state in the body, and gender is determined by the predominance of one of the hormones in the body). When the hormone content of the body is exactly the same, Sepia is obtained. The exact balance of two opposing forces (the desire for sex is the desire to achieve balance, to get rid of an excess of one or another hormone). Sepia doesn't need that kind of release. Hormones are in balance, so she is indifferent to sex. The idea of neutrality. She does not realize that she is disgusted with sex until her partner demands sex, and thin she realizes that she is disgusted.

The idea of stagnation. She has no natural female curves. No bends, she is thin and flat-chested (the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland does not work properly). A woman with such a figure has the same problems. You will find that this balance is difficult to correct. Sterility, unusual miscarriages (spontaneous abortion). Spontaneous abortions occur from the third to the fifth month. Frigidity, great sensitivity in hormonal balance. Can't stand stress. If often has sexual intercourse, the balance may be lost.

The idea of stagnation at the physical level. An autonomous system has two opposing forces that collide and neutralize. Stagnation in the uterus, prolapse of the uterus. Muscles become weak due to loss of control by the autonomic nervous system. Feeling of fullness in the rectum. Constipation without urging. Feeling of emptiness in the stomach, a kind of gnawing hunger. Disgust for food, even smell. Persistent nausea, worse in the morning (sick in the morning during pregnancy), especially if there is aversion to sex since the beginning of pregnancy. Disgust for her husband. She constantly eats and cannot achieve a feeling of fullness. The vessels do not shrink or expand. Think about Raynaud's disease. Sepia has low blood pressure. Vascular paralysis; they are not functioning properly. Color from white to red and bluish, with stagnation, needs intense activity to counteract this. Better from intense activity. He walks quickly and for a long time.

In an emotional state, the same idea of stagnation. Immobility of emotions. Feeling of lack of emotion. Is not amenable to stimulation and cannot experience joy or emotion from any stimulus. Frozen emotions are associated with love. Love and joy of life. Can be in this state for so long that he cannot remember. When she feels better, life reappears in her. Sepia easily gets angry and irritable. In this state, she hits the children. Doesn't feel natural motherly love for her child. She cannot feel natural affection or love for her husband either. Logically, she can say that he is good until she is in bed with him. When he makes demands, she begins to hate him.

Lumbago is ameliorated by strong pressure. Cardiopalmus lying on the left side. Cannot bear pressure around neck (i.e. Lachesis). Tired, wants to be alone; disgust for the company. Can't eat fatty foods. This picture, combined with aversion to sex, makes her Sepia and not Lachesis. Fear that she believes in something that cannot be done. Sepia usually cries during the consultation. Crying attacks. Transfers all his suffering into consciousness. Gradually, she develops tremendous anxiety, a feeling that something bad is about to happen. Sepia's anxiety is among the most powerful. Crying day and night, not knowing why.

Anxiety with an element of the unknown that something is about to happen. This state of continuous crying occurs after an extended period of Sepia (Phosphoric acid gives a similar picture, combined with a lack of feeling). In this emotional state, it is best to isolate yourself. Nervousness, excitability in a sensitive young girl. Laughs at the party; laughs and dances. Great excitability in children; a little girl gets the impression that she cannot break easily. Tense, excitable, blush. Cannot resist the daily stimuli of life.

The same stillness seems to prevail in the mind. Stupidity; feels stupid. She has lost the function of reflection. Has difficulty understanding the meaning of the question. It takes her a long time to answer. Becomes distracted. Laziness; unwillingness to do anything, because he feels the weakness of his mind. Nothing seems to excite a dull and lazy mind. Stagnation of the mind; no thinking happens. Better sitting cross-legged. Internal organ prolapse. A state of attachment. Can objectively observe the state of mind within the framework of its dullness, because it is not affected. Sepia has no emotion; immobility of consciousness. She knows the weaknesses of everyone around her. This state of mind is similar to the state of mind of seekers of truth; deep down, this idea of separation is powerful; intellectual suppression rather than submission. Such seekers of truth feel as if they have cut off the emotions and made a violent separation. They force themselves into the Sepia state. The patient may have a guru in the Sepia state. This is a state in which everything is so depressed that they cannot return to their normal life.

If your patient is spoiled by a large number of drugs, Sepia is one of those drugs that can restore the original picture of the case. Suppression can be done with drugs or willpower. The ratio between Sepia males and Sepia females is approximately one in ten.

Stillness arises from an intellectual process in the mind. The young man is sensitive and excitable. Offended, he tries to find refuge. To prevent this, he calms his emotions and controls the urge to have sex as much as possible. Then comes the inability to think, heaviness, dullness. Tries to activate blood circulation in the body, and when he achieves this, he feels better. Sepia has a rather aversion to salt.

SEPIA SUCCUS (sep.) (Second type)

Chill, ameliorated by vigorous movement (not simply restlessness). Tall, thin, lithe and strong (like models), with sharp features, long toes. Tough, sarcastic and rude, sometimes competitive, assertive. "Female Nux vomica". Another Sepia is flabby, a little fat, bruised, like a laundress, full of inertia, just can't do anything else. Swollen ankles, varicose veins, prolapse of the uterus, flabby muscles, collapse at the same time. A state of stagnation, immobility, stagnation, lack of response to changes. Inertia. Sluggish inertia. Relaxed, unassembled. Inertia like a bag. A powerful stimulus is needed to induce movement. A state of balance between masculinity and femininity. The woman looks virile. The man looks feminine. No reactions. There is no tension necessary for movement. Apathetic. Not interested in the opposite sex. The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system is devoid of dynamics and is in an equilibrium state. No response. In a standing position, the uterus falls out, then retracts back. There is no usual quick reaction, a change in gravity causes a change in position. Strong stimulation is required to get a response. The balance is too precise. Needs stimulation to function. In the absence of stimulation, it is static. She perceives any external influence and takes it very seriously. Absent species, excited by external stimulation. Children are very excitable (Phos.). Sensationalism. Strives for everything that makes her move. Needs strong stimulation to perform sexual functions. It takes too much effort to respond to sexual offers. Disgusted with sex when offered. Reacts with a feeling of repulsion in the form of irritability, stinging. Frequent miscarriages, can not save the fetus. Flaccid muscles. The essence of Ignatia is a great deficit of emotions. Ignatia consists of two balanced consciousnesses, but in great conflict, which creates tension and iron firmness. Sepia is hard and sharp, sarcastic and discerning. He absolutely does not feel the limits to which one can reach. Not afraid to offend anyone. She can be very smart and perceptive. He sees people through and through and can live without attachments (pathological separation). Unintentionally spiteful. It seems to her that nothing moves inside her. What is inside she really does not care is a deep secret. This scares her and causes her to "cry for no reason." It seems to her that there is no way to cure her.

Fear that she really is not alive inside. Calc. carb. there is a similar fear that there is no hope and she tries to hide it. Both cry for the same reasons. Sepia cannot explain why she is crying. Calc. carb. - also, because he feels that he is going crazy. The mind stops until there is no thought at all (for example, in middle age). Forced to do something to stimulate the mind and make it work: vigorous exercise, powerful stimulants, rubs the forehead (Alum. Does this to get rid of the feeling of cobwebs and veils over consciousness). Nat. mur. softness in the eyes is visible, it is physically similar to the thin early Sepia; romantic, but may lose her sexuality for fear of rejection. It takes a lot of food to fill her stomach. She does not respond and does not feel full. Can lash out at children in response to their demands.

Sepia (according to Berik)

Sepia Pigmented cuttlefish gland secretion

The effect on the portal vein system is especially pronounced in case of stagnation in it. Stasis, provoking prolapse of internal organs, fatigue and malaise. Weakness and yellowish coloration of the skin of the face; a feeling of being pulled downward, especially in women. Pain extends to lower back with slight chills. A tendency to miscarriage. Hot flushes during menopause, with weakness and increased perspiration. Aggravation of all symptoms during menopause. Fainting occurs easily. Feeling of a ball inside the body. Brunettes respond better to Sepia. All painful sensations spread from the bottom up. One of the most important remedies for uterine lesions. Tuberculosis patients with chronic hepatic disorders and uterine reflexes. Feeling cold even in a warm room.

Throbbing headaches in the cerebellar region.

Psyche. Indifference even to those whom he loves more than anyone else in the world. Disgust for work, family. Irritable, easily offended. Fear of loneliness. Very sad. Cries when talking about her symptoms. Stingy. The melancholy intensifies towards evening; lazy and careless.

Head. Vertigo, with the feeling of a ball rolling in the head. Prodromal symptoms of apoplexy. Stinging pains from the inside out and up, worse on the left, or in the frontal region, with nausea and vomiting; worse, indoors and lying on the affected side. Convulsive jerking of the head back and forth. Sensation of coldness in the region of the crown. Headaches in the form of terrible tremors during menses, with little flow. Pimples on the forehead at the border of hair growth. Non-clotting of fontanelles. Hair root sensitivity. Hair loss.

Nose. Thick greenish discharge; dense corks and crusts. Yellowish saddle spot on the bridge of the nose. Atrophic catarrh with greenish crusts in the anterior region of the nose and pain in the root of the nose. Sepia (according to Kent)

Sepia - cuttlefish (cephalopods) contents of an ink sac from 4 H.

Sepia is suitable for tall, thin patients with a narrow pelvis and weak ligaments and muscles; these are women, devoid of signs of a female physique. Their thighs are more like the thighs of strong men and are poorly adapted for childbirth, so they cannot perform female functions without relaxing the organs and tissues of the pelvis. This is a typical Sepia figure: tall, very thin, as if stretched out in one straight line.

Sepia's most striking features are associated with the psyche, related to the ability to love. It seems that in many ways these patients lack the ability to experience natural love and affection. I illustrate this with the words of one patient: "I know that I have to love my children and my husband, and before I really loved them, but now I do not experience anything like that." For these people, love is not accompanied by a feeling of attachment, they do not understand what attachment is, they cannot feel it in themselves; their love does not manifest itself in any way. If you think about it, it seems that love itself is fairly constant, while attachment, being an expression of love, is subject to change. This remedy has a marked lack of attachment; everything seems different; the patient does not understand what is happening to her; she may even feel that loved ones have become strangers to her. This is a state bordering on insanity; it is completely different from the condition of a woman who is offended by her husband and has logical reasons not to love him.

This condition can occur in a woman after childbirth, after uterine or any other bleeding, after prolonged indigestion; from an immoderate lifestyle; it is accompanied by circulatory disorders, pallor, weakness of body and soul. This condition rarely occurs in men, but is very typical for women. It often occurs during breastfeeding, when the baby is too active or the twins have to be fed, who require a lot of milk and "suck" the mother. This condition can occur in the wife of a hypersexual husband. Excessive sexual arousal and sexual excesses make a woman cold.

A woman who until recently was all the time worried, nervous and anxious, acquires directly opposite qualities, becomes cold, unperturbed. Nevertheless, this medicine contains all types of nervousness, anxiety, the patient becomes worse from noise, excitement, communication, she has extreme irritability at the somatic and mental levels; a nervous patient prone to suicide; melancholy, sits and is silent; taciturnity; if you stir it up, it gives monosyllabic answers. Nothing pleases, cannot understand what is really happening, everything seems strange; lack of striving for beauty; cannot experience pleasure; life means nothing to her. The patient is worse in company, but she is afraid of being alone; in the company she shows malice and acrimony, in the depths of her “frozen” state of mind, she feels anger, turning it mainly on those whom she loves more. The Sepia woman cannot stand it when anyone dares to challenge her opinion. The slightest argument can dispel the best impression of her.

The next important general symptom of the remedy is the particular yellowish-earthy skin color that you must see once and remember forever. Sepia also has jaundice, but now I'm talking about a very special unhealthy skin tone - the face is waxy, anemic, sallow, speckled with yellow spots, a yellowish-earthy patch on the nose and cheeks, which is described as a yellow "saddle" on the nose, located slightly lower on the cheeks on either side of the nose. The whole face is often profusely covered with unusually large freckles; large brown spots like during pregnancy, brown spots on the cheeks, brown warts; red or pink warts become pigmented; liver spots on the face, chest and abdomen. The skin on the face is yellowish-earthy, puffy, it seems that all the muscles of the face have become flabby; you rarely see clear "intellectual" features in those who are shown Sepia; it is rarely shown to those whose folds on the face give out the habit of thinking for a long time, reflect will and intellect. Sepia patients are rather dull and lethargic, forgetful, their brains are slow, lacking in activity; all this is reflected on the face. Although many Sepia patients are quite impulsive, mental dullness remains, however, a very characteristic feature, which of course is reflected in the face. The face is usually puffy, often round and smooth, with no “intelligent” folds and lines.

Characterized by anemia, pallor of lips and ears; face pale, yellowish-earthy; the skin on the hands and fingers is wrinkled, yellowish, waxy, bloodless. Sepia causes progressive emaciation, causing the skin to become wrinkled; the woman looks much older than her age; wrinkles and yellow spots on the face make the thirty-five-year-old patient look fifty. The child looks like a wrinkled old man.

Constipation of this remedy accompanies any complaint. The intestine loses its ability to remove stool, which leads to constant constipation; constipation during pregnancy; the chair leaves slowly and with difficulty; feces in the form of sheep droppings. Constant sensation a lump in the rectum, the patient can never completely empty the intestines; a feeling of heaviness in the rectum persists even after a bowel movement. When feces are in the lower intestine, they cannot be pushed out until they have accumulated in sufficient quantities and create the necessary pressure.

Another striking feature of most Sepia patients is gnawing hunger that cannot be satisfied; even after a plentiful meal, the stomach retains a feeling of emptiness, gnawing hunger; food doesn’t work or doesn’t work for long. This is very typical, especially when combined with constipation and peculiarities in the emotional sphere.

When such symptoms are combined with organ prolapse, Sepia will surely cure the condition, no matter how severe it is or what particular prolapse occurs. This condition occurs as a result of relaxation of the internal organs, which sag, patients feel like supporting them with their hand, with a garter or bandage; feeling as if organs are falling into a funnel; better when sitting with one leg over the other.

If you see that the patient simultaneously has a gnawing feeling of hunger, constipation, a feeling of sagging of the internal organs and a characteristic mental state, then this is Sepia and only Sepia. Each symptom individually is not so significant, but their combination is important.

Sepia has a marked tendency to catarrhal inflammation, and is characterized by a milky discharge from the mucous membranes. Later long time after the completion of digestion in the stomach, after it is empty, nausea and sometimes vomiting occurs. It is a catarrhal inflammation of the stomach, and if it persists in combination with milky vomiting, Sepia will be a very valuable remedy. This condition often develops during pregnancy. Vomiting of food eaten, then, when the stomach is empty, vomiting or eructation of milky liquid; morning vomiting, first food and then milk fluid. Do not confuse this with vomiting milk. Some remedies have vomiting from milk alone, Sepia also has it.

Whitish, milky discharge from the nasopharynx, vagina; irritating leucorrhoea, which sometimes becomes thick, cheesy, and terribly offensive; there are also thick green and yellow discharge; dry crusts on mucous membranes.

Prolonged obstinate catarrhal inflammation of the nose, thick green and yellow crusts blown out of the nose and sometimes expectorated from the nasopharynx; thick, leathery formations. Loss of taste and smell. The smell of food, meat and meat broth causes nausea. Catarrh of the chest, with thick, tenacious, yellow expectoration, with violent cough; when the patient coughs, he begins to gag and strain with the appearance of the urge to vomit and vomit; dry cough, although wheezing is present. Whooping cough; asthmatic cough with urging to vomit and passing urine. Violent cough. Cough at the onset of sleep (Lachesis; irritable children, Chamomilla). Tuberculosis. Transient consumption after suppression of gonorrhea; if the appointment is made quickly enough, it can stop the progression of the disease. Spasmodic dry cough from evening to midnight; the patient holds on to the chest while coughing (Bryonia, Natrum sulphuricum, Phosphorus).

Skin rashes. Predisposition to herpetic eruptions around the genitals, lips; ringworm on the face and body. It has cured shingles, herpetic eruptions on the labia and foreskin. Vesicular eruptions under the armpits, on the elbows; the rash on the elbows turns into thick crusts; dense crusts form in the joints; rashes between the fingers; weeping eruptions with discharge of a watery or thick, yellow, purulent fluid.

Sepia is characterized by indurations of certain types of rash, such as epithelioma-like; seals on the skin of the lips that crack and bleed. A crusty eruption similar to epithelioma is very characteristic of Sepia. When the crusts fall off, a yellow, green, ichorous base is exposed; when some crusts fall off, others form in their place; and if you tear them off ahead of time, then they bleed. With the help of Sepia, it was possible to heal the epithelioma of the lips, wings of the nose, eyelids. The medicine cured the old seals that arose from the smoking of the clay pipe, continued to grow, and from under which a thick, yellow, purulent exudate came out. Sepia is indicated for lumpy skin and lupus changes when there is infiltration; sometimes the rash begins to heal from the center, forming a ring; this is the typical state of Sepia. The characteristic features of the remedy are thickening and a purplish skin tone. Sepia has this purple hue as typical as Lachesis.

The Sepia patients have a predisposition to hysteria. These may be crying attacks; the patient looks sad, tender, soft, and after a minute becomes capricious, excited, stubborn. You can never predict what she will do next. She says and does ridiculous things, confuses everything, it is impossible to rely on her; complete lack of patience; does not feel affection for their loved ones; the whole psychic sphere is weakened and upset; it is not a condition that occurs during a fever, it is a chronic manifestation of psora or sycosis. Afraid of ghosts, afraid that something unusual will happen; the air is filled with images that cannot be seen, but she knows that they are there; she sees dead friends or other images, often of a religious nature. Can't calm down until he pisses someone off; constant obsession with grievances; sarcasm; the desire to offend; fear of madness and poverty. "She is afraid of hunger, quarrelsome, constantly thinks that she is being insulted, easily frightened, full of misgivings." “Passionate, irritable; extreme irritability due to nonsense, resentment. She's always unhappy with everything, she likes to make scandals. "

Nervous headaches, bilious, migraine, violent, extending to the whole head; congestive. In general they diminish when lying down, in a state of complete rest, aggravated by ordinary movements, but aggravated by vigorous movements, which is generally characteristic of Sepia; the patient can "run away" from her ailments. Stagnation in the brain, slow thinking, cannot work with the head; mental work aggravates the headache. Good, full sleep brings relief, but if the patient is awakened soon after falling asleep, the headache will worsen. The same applies to movement; while movements of the eyes, head or body, a few steps in a warm room intensify the pain, then after a long walk in the fresh air, from which the whole body warms up, it becomes better. This is due to the general lethargy of the body, requiring intense physical activity, which keeps the body in good shape and brings good health. The Sepia symptoms are worse in open air if it is not combined with prolonged movement; ameliorated by outdoor exercise and worse indoors. The headache is worse from bending forward, moving, coughing, climbing stairs, shaking, light, turning the head, lying on the back, and thinking, while prolonged, intense physical activity relieves; also better from tight bandaging, warm applications, although worse in a warm room.

Sepia also has characteristic headaches, mainly in the occiput, worse in the morning; severe pain in the eyes and temples; relieved by perspiration, worse at the beginning of the movement; throbbing when bending forward, worse when going up stairs.

Phosphorus headaches are relieved by long sleep, however, from intensive, rapid movement, they intensify, the patient does not tolerate rapid movement. Sepia is good for what was called bilious headaches in the old days. They are ameliorated by vomiting; pain builds up gradually; there is an aversion to food, then nausea, vomiting, the patient falls asleep and wakes up without a headache. This is similar to the pains of Sanguinaria, which are also relieved by vomiting in a dark room, but in a different location and direction.

Neuralgic headaches; recurrent migraines in gouty patients; Violent congestive headaches in young women, sensitive to noise, very refined, especially if they have dark eyes, dark skin, which takes on a yellowish-earthy hue during illness. Jaundice is often combined with headaches; the headache ends with vomiting, and for several days there is a yellowness of the skin, which disappears, but reappears with the next attack of the headache. Headache with nausea every morning; aversion to the smell of food.

The Sepia patients have the already mentioned state of mental dullness; they cannot work; do not answer questions; it looks like a state of extreme intoxication; numbness; swollen face and eyelids, yellowness of the sclera, yellow skin tone. Sometimes this condition ends with bouts of severe vomiting. Craving for spicy, flavored food, bitter, such as beer, in persons suffering from chronic alcoholism, with a headache and the threat of apoplexy. "Apoplexy in people prone to drunkenness and sexual excesses, with a predisposition to gout, hemorrhoids, etc." “Threat of apoplexy in middle-aged people who lead a dissolute life, with a predisposition to arthritis and hemorrhoids; they usually have had several mild apoplexy attacks, and sometimes they feel symptoms - the harbingers of new attacks. "

There are rashes and hair loss on the scalp; yellow crusts; A rash with oozing pus and other fluids vesicles; eczema of newborns.

Eyes; catarrhal symptoms, with vesicles and pustules; granulation on the eyelids; ulcers and other psoric manifestations; various infiltrative conditions in and around the eyes; pustules at the edges of the eyelids, pustules on eyeball; it seems to the patient that he is looking through the haze; cartilage tumors of the eyelids, gluing of the eyelids, barley, etc.

Discharge from ears: thick, yellow, purulent, offensive.

The nose is a favorite localization of Sepia pathology; loss of smell; the nose is clogged with yellow or green dense crusts that cannot be blown out; chronic discharge of thick yellow pus. “Large, offensive plugs in the nose, sometimes so large that they have to be drawn in and coughed up through the nasopharynx, which causes vomiting. Dry inflammation of the nasal mucosa, especially in the left half. Blowing out large lumps of yellow or green mucus or yellow-green crusts, with epistaxis. " This is a description of the most severe forms of catarrhal inflammations; but few are allowed to develop to such an extent, usually such patients receive local therapy and their nose is cured, the process immediately goes into the chest, mucous consumption begins to develop.

The gums flake off the teeth. Toothache and neuralgia from hypothermia.

Sensation of a lump in the throat (like Lachesis), but Lachesis is ameliorated by swallowing. (The same, with helminths, indicates Cina.) Discomfort from narrow collar and corset, like Lachesis. Worse in early sleep, like Lachesis.

Sepia causes many symptoms related to appetite, thirst, food, drink and stomach. The Sepia patient is characterized by poor digestion of food in the stomach, eructation of food, mucus, or bile with a sour and bitter taste; sour and bitter vomiting of food and mucus; feeling of hunger, emptiness, sagging in the stomach, sometimes not relieved after eating. Sometimes there is a gnawing pain, a gnawing feeling of hunger, an unpleasant sensation in the stomach, which does not always decrease after eating. Almost constant nausea, especially in the morning, nausea, belching and vomiting of milky fluid; when the stomach is empty, there is vomiting and eructation with spitting out of milk fluid. Aversion to food, smell of cooking, like Colchicum and Arsenicum album. The patient gets up in the morning with a feeling of sagging, discomfort and fullness in the stomach, then there is an urge to vomit and regurgitation of mucus and milky fluid; vomiting during pregnancy; vomiting of milk water in the morning; all this is characteristic of Sepia.

Acrid, burning eructations; heartburn; belching rotten, irritating pharynx; heartburn, which is another form of belching; caustic, acidic liquid that rises up the esophagus and causes burning, cramping, tingling.

Violent nausea; faintness with a terrible anxiety in the stomach.

Hunger is more or less typical of Phosphorus, but it is relieved by eating. The Ignatia patient sighs constantly and feels some kind of discomfort all the time.

Oleander produces a sagging sensation in the stomach, violent lightheadedness; food does not bring relief, is not digested, the next day is vomited undigested.

The sensation of emptiness Lycopodium may not go away after eating, and it is equally intense both before and after eating; pulsation appears after eating.

Kali carb. Has the same sensation, without relief from eating, which may even intensify it; after eating, there is a feeling of overflow and throbbing.

With severe damage to the liver and heart, the stomach cannot maintain a normal supply of nutrients to the body; palpitations, great weakness, congestion of the liver, white stools. This requires Digitalis, with its feeling of the strongest nausea, not relieved by eating. In Sepia this symptom is combined with loss of attachment, a feeling of heaviness in the rectum, constipation, etc.

“Stomach pain after eating the simplest food. Stitching and burning pain in the stomach. Pain in the stomach, aggravated by vomiting. " This is an unusual symptom, as vomiting usually relieves the condition. Sepia's stomach becomes like a bag of leather filled with food, which then erupts completely undigested, which becomes acidic or mixed with bile.

Inflammation, enlargement of the liver, with jaundice, pain, fullness, fullness, and discomfort in the region of the liver.

The abdomen is distended with gas, rumbling and bloating. Often these disorders take on a chronic nature, these are women with a large belly covered with brown spots.

Sepia can expel tapeworms.

Chronic diarrhea, jelly-like or lumpy stools; alternation of diarrhea and constipation; both for constipation and for diarrhea, feces contain a large amount of mucus; hard stools covered with a lot of jelly-like mucus. There is no stool for several days, then the patient sits down and pushes with all her might so that she becomes covered with profuse sweat, but to no avail, only with the help of a finger and after a long straining it is possible to isolate a little stool, followed by a glass of jelly-like mucus, yellow or yellow-white and extremely fetid.

Acute diarrhea and dysentery with jelly-like stools correspond more closely to Kali bichromicum and Colchicum. Sepia, on the other hand, is characterized by chronic diarrhea or constipation, in which mucus covers the stool or is excreted after it.

Do not confuse this condition with Graphites, which has very bulky stools, which the patient expels with great effort and also becomes covered with sweat, while the feces are covered or mixed with a substance similar to boiled egg white, as if covered with a white mass.

Sepia has a strong stench; discharge of stool is accompanied by an unusually fetid odor; offensive sweat, pungent urine. "The stool has a putrid, sour, offensive odor that comes out suddenly and all at once." Sepia is a routine remedy for constipation when there are very few symptoms. There is always a feeling of fullness in the rectum after stool; unsuccessful straining, when every effort is accompanied by sweat, since the patient is weak and emaciated. Sepia has unsuccessful urges like Nux vomica. For several days, the patient may not have any desires at all, and then they arise, resembling labor pains. Rectal prolapse. Heaviness in the anus, as if a ball were lying there - this sensation does not diminish after a bowel movement. Sore anus. Isolation of ascaris. Leakage of fluid from the rectum, soreness between the buttocks.

The overflow of the rectum with feces leads to the rapid development of hemorrhoids, which creates additional problems.

Numerous disorders of the urinary organs; involuntary urination in children at night immediately after falling asleep. The Sepia patient must always remember about the sphincter of the bladder, otherwise the urine may be lost; she may pass urine when she coughs, sneezes, laughs, a door slams shut, some kind of shock, or if her thoughts are distracted. Frequent, constant urge to urinate, with milky urine that burns like fire; when it stands, a milky-gray precipitate forms, from which it is difficult to wash the toilet bowl. Urine bloody, scanty, suppression of urine, severe pain in kidneys and bladder with strong pulling down sensation; sudden urge with tenesmus, as if uterus were falling out. Sudden urge to urinate with knife-like cutting pain and chills throughout the body if the patient is unable to urinate immediately in the wrong place. One case comes to mind. One woman who worked as a saleswoman had to run to the toilet every few minutes; with every urge to urinate, there was a strong cutting, like a knife, pain, and if she could not urinate immediately, the pain persisted. She had to think all the time about how not to pass the urine. The woman was tall, thin, and had a yellowish, tired face. Sepia cured her, and these problems never bothered her again.

Sepia women have a miscarriage in the third month. All types of ulceration, prolapse and displacement of organs, feeling of sagging of internal organs and muscle relaxation. Delayed separation of the placenta. Subinvolution of the uterus, feeling of fatigue and weakness of all pelvic organs. Metrorrhagia during menopause or during pregnancy, especially in the fifth and seventh months.

Both men and women have an aversion to the opposite sex. A woman may have such a feeling as if she allowed herself sexual excesses, although in fact it was not. After intercourse, weakness, fatigue, and sleeplessness occur at night; sleep full of dreams; twitching and cramps in muscles, leucorrhoea, congestion of the pelvic organs. A woman used to have a completely normal relationship with her husband, but after giving birth, even the thought of sexual intimacy begins to make her nauseous and irritated.

All kinds of symptoms of menstrual irregularities, but in these cases there is nothing particularly characteristic of the remedy. At one time it was believed that scanty menses were more typical of Sepia, but this is not necessary; data from trials and clinical observations suggest that this drug is equally good at helping with too much and too little menstrual flow.

Violent dysmenorrhea in refined girls with a yellowish-earthy complexion.

Sepia can help well when a woman, after stopping breastfeeding, or if the baby has died, should resume menstruation, but they do not appear, and then the mother's condition worsens, she withers; Sepia will restore the menstrual cycle.

Calcarea carbonica works in the opposite way - menstruation occurs while the baby is still breastfeeding. Thick, greenish, acrid or milky leucorrhoea. Leucorrhoea in little girls.

Men have chronic sycotic secretions that are resistant to allopathic injections. Yellow or milky discharge from the urethra, copious or last drop, painless. Gonorrhea after the disappearance of acute symptoms. Urine contains a lot of urate, leaves red spots everywhere, often has an irritating character and a fetid odor; this condition is combined with prostatitis. “Discharge characteristic of chronic urethritis; painless; discharge only at night; a drop of them is enough to leave yellow spots on the laundry; yellowish discharge, without burning when urinating; painless; persisting for one and a half years; gluing of the outlet of the urethra in the morning, especially when the genitals are weakened for a long time by the current disease or frequent discharge of semen. "

Genital warts; Sepia is helpful when the condition is due to sexual abuse. Impotence in men, frigidity in women.

It is worth mentioning the similarity of this medicine and Murex. Both remedies are characterized by muscle relaxation, a feeling of prolapse of the abdominal and pelvic organs, aggravated by physical effort and walking, decreasing in a sitting position, from crossing the legs, pressure on the genitals; but if, in addition to this, there is profuse menses and a very strong sexual desire, then Murex should be prescribed and Sepia excluded. Both remedies have a violent feeling of emptiness in the stomach. At the same time, Sepia is characterized by a decrease in sexual desire, the appearance of aversion to sexual intercourse. Murex is characterized by soreness and congestion of the uterus, which constantly makes itself felt. Also typical for Murex sharp pain in the right half of the uterus, which extends diagonally through the entire body up to the left half of the chest or left mammary gland. Heals severe dysmenorrhea. Helps with uterine cancer. Watery, greenish, thick, bloody leucorrhoea, itching.

One of the most characteristic general symptoms of Sepia is amelioration from vigorous exercise; the patient is worse at the beginning of the movement, but better when she is warmed up. This fully applies to symptoms related to the back. The back is very painful, aching pain along the entire spine. When you press on it, you can find areas of soreness, irritation of the spinal cord. Aching back pain, more in the lumbar-coccygeal region, often while sitting, relieved by vigorous exercise. The improvement of the condition from strong pressure is especially characteristic. The patient usually places the book on the back of the chair and presses against it with her back. Sepia has no supine relief, unlike Natrum muriaticum. Leaning forward increases back pain. "Back pain worse on kneeling."

Among the symptoms from the lower extremities, one can find the strongest numbness of the feet. “Coldness in the legs and feet, especially in bed in the evening; as soon as the feet get warm, the hands get cold; icy coldness in the feet; profuse foot sweat or unbearable sweat that irritates between the toes. Swelling of the limbs, better when walking. "

Sleep is anxious, full of dreams; palpitations prevent the patient from lying on her left side. Palpitations during sleep, with throbbing and trembling of the whole body, the throbbing felt down to the tips of the fingers.

In old cases of suppressed malaria Sepia returns chills, but its main field of application in these cases is the consequences of prescribing the wrong remedy, when the picture is blurred. If a medicine was chosen based on only a part of the symptoms, then it can change something, but the patient does not get better from it. The result is an alternation of periods of heat, chills and sweating, which takes on a completely erratic character. One of best medicines in malaria there is Natrum muriaticum, but in his picture there is a strict order, as in China, and in Sepia, complete disorder is characteristic. If the picture is confused by wrong prescriptions, consider Calcarea carbonica, Arsenicum album, Sulfur, Sepia, and Ipecacuanha. Never give China or Natrum muriaticum when the stages of the fever are irregular.

Sepia and Natrum muriaticum are complementary remedies. In addition to the state of inhibition, Sepia also has a general excitement of the entire nervous system, so characteristic of Natrum muriaticum: the patient is disturbed by the slightest noise, the knock of a slammed door, etc. Muscle twitching may occur during sleep; the patient constantly sees some sounds from which she wakes up; it seems to her that someone is calling her; the slightest disturbance to the silence in the house can wake her up.

Worse before and during menses; during pregnancy; after meal; shortly after falling asleep; when the weather changes; during a thunderstorm; overwhelming fear.

Sepia (after Grangeor)

Sepia (typical woman)

There is probably no more feminine remedy than Sepia, although it is sometimes suitable for some men. The typical Sepia woman arrives at your office, visibly exhausted and driven to the extreme by the behavior of her many restless children. Her face is covered with yellow liver spots from her last pregnancy. At home, she works too hard to satisfy this small team, including her husband, who does not help her very much with the housework. Everything should shine with her, and her household is a constant concern due to her heightened punctuality. In fact, Sepia is Cinderella, who does everything in the house, constantly works for others, secretly dreaming that someday a prince will come ... In reality, the prince is unconsciously the father, who plays a very important role for Sepia. Subsequently, the husband will often disappoint and may even be rejected.

Like a cuttlefish, a small sea animal, with a deep gaze, Sepia accumulates all the bad in itself to hide in it. This affects her mood, and she quickly becomes depressed. Constipation, heightened sensitivity to odors (a child who sniffs everything, nausea with some kitchen smells), chilliness (in particular, the limbs, hands and feet are always cold) are observed. Exercise improves Sepia by causing blood to circulate in the pelvic area and uncorking the hepatic venous system.

The girl Sepia has matte skin and enters the doctor's office shyly, sits cross-legged and constantly bites her lips. White spots on the nails. There are often itchy warts on the hands and soles. On the seashore, she had an aggravation of all her symptoms. In the summer, she should take walks in the mountains. We also note the sensitivity to E. Coli (colibacilluria), the tendency to sore throat and chickenpox, which is very strong and causes marked fatigue.

Sepia children are jealous of their parents for other children (Arsenicum album, Natrium muriaticum, Nux vamica). They are athletic, very rhythmic (rhythmic gymnastics, dancing). The Sepia individuals, like Platina and Lycopodium, are most fond of children; they are attracted to professions related to children, but during times of nervous exhaustion (which often happens because they want to do too much for them), they cannot bear them.

Mathieu, 10 years old, has been suffering from asthma attacks for 3 years. Previously, he often had rhinopharyngitis and had his tonsils removed. It should be noted that the third BCG vaccination assigned to him did not take root. The parents noticed a curious fact that the seizures become less severe, even disappear with exercise. So, recently he woke up with a mild asthma attack, which stopped during the day while playing football. This is a punctual child, a good student. He is very fond of sour (gherkins, vinegar sauce). There is a tendency to constipation. In addition, he is jealous of his parents for his five-year-old sister. By taking Sepia, then Tuberculinum and Psorinum, the child completely got rid of the asthma attacks.

Melanie, 8, is a dark-skinned girl, shy and very diligent at school. She has recurrent sore throats and white leucorrhoea. A history of colibacillary urinary infection is found in the first year of life. Her head sweats a lot after falling asleep, she is very complex due to enuresis. She is very sensitive to odors, often vomiting after fatty foods or chocolate, which she adores, as well as when traveling in a car. After several doses of Sepia, her appetite ceases, especially in the morning, but the discharge increases temporarily and then ceases; sore throats and enuresis disappear. Let's note two attachments: dancing and a horse.

Sepia or cuttlefish ink is a dark blackish liquid secreted by the cephalopod cuttlefish. The tincture is made from sepia, which must be obtained in liquid form and dried naturally. Rubbing with milk sugar is made from the same product. The pathogenesis of sepia is found in Hahnemann's Chronic Diseases. A type A type of sepia with a painful, sallow complexion - on the face, mainly on the bridge of the nose, in the form of a saddle, yellow spots that are also found all over the body. Blue under the eyes, black hair, slim figure. Such subjects, both men and women, are prone to sweating. They suffer from hot flashes, headaches in the morning, wake up feeling fatigued. There is almost always some kind of disease in the genitals. In both sexes, congestive liver, atonic dyspepsia, and constipation are observed. Physically, the sepia type never has a strong, healthy appearance, well-being, but on the contrary, powerlessness, general weakness, pale color of the connective membranes. Mentally, the sepi subject, and this is most often a woman, is always sad for no reason; seeking solitude, avoiding society, crying for no reason on the sly. Everything is boring for him, affairs are repulsive to him and he is not at all interested in them; family and even children are completely indifferent to him. Sadness is replaced by periods of excitement, during which the patient becomes irritable. Attacks of involuntary tears and laughter are often observed. Characteristic 1. Feeling of heaviness and pressure on the bottom, as if the entire contents of the abdominal cavity wants to go out through the vagina, as a result of this - a characteristic posture: the patient crosses her legs with force or presses on the vagina with her hand. 2. Yellow spots, liver, especially visible on the face, cheeks and nose, where they are in the shape of a butterfly or saddle. 3. Abrasions and eczema on the folds of almost all joints. 4. Stiffness and heaviness in the thighs, especially after sleep. 5. Weakness in the joints, which disappears when walking; it seems that they will now dislocate. 6. Sensation of a foreign body, bullet, in various parts of the body, especially in the rectum. 7. Every collar seems narrow; the patient stretches it (lyakhezis). 8. Discharge of foul-smelling sweat, mainly in the armpits and in the popliteal fossa. 9. The mucopurulent discharge is yellowish-green and not irritating, similar to pulsatilla. 10. Vomiting and nausea, easily coming under the influence of the slightest physical or mental impact. 11. Food seems too salty; with pulsatil, the opposite is true. Pain. Sepia pains are often at rest and movement never improves. They are most severe at night, with numbness in the affected part, worse from cold, and better after dinner. Chair. - Hard, knobby, globular, inadequate, difficult. Pain in rectum during and long after stool. Menses. Wrong, not similar to one another; most often belated and scarce. Colic before menses. During them, pressure on the bottom, the need to cross your legs. Summary Wherever there is a disease, it can be argued for sure that it is always accompanied by known explicit or latent organic or functional diseases in the genital area. Already Hippocrates used sepia for female diseases. Sepia is called “laundry medicine”, and many diseases are caused or worsened by working in the laundry. Venous congestion in the portal vein, with painful disorders of the liver and uterus.

indications for use

Main indications Wherever a disease that requires the appointment of sepia appears, says Test, it can be argued for sure that it is always accompanied by known organic or functional disorders of the genital organs. The consequences of venous stasis in the uterus can be: prolapse and displacement of the uterus. WHITE, against which sepia is often the best remedy; they are yellow, green, with severe itching. STOPPING AND TOO RUNNING MENSTRUATIONS are indifferently cured by sepia, if only they depend on venous congestion in the uterus. It is the best remedy for gonorrhea in women after the acute symptoms have disappeared. Venous congestion in the abdominal cavity causes from the intestines: CONSTRUCTION. Rectal prolapse. HEMORRHOUS: bleeding from stool with a feeling of fullness in the rectum, as if it were distended by some foreign body, which causes the urge. DISPEPSIA with a feeling of emptiness and sinking in the stomach, weakness in the stomach and stomach, with a normal or bitter taste in the mouth; the need for sour and seasonings; bloating. The patient easily vomits (when brushing teeth, smelling food, receiving bad news, etc.). Sensitivity in the region of the liver. Does not tolerate milk, sour eructation is obtained from it. Dyspepsia of smokers. MIGRAINE with throbbing pains over the eye (usually over the left). Gouty headache, worse in the morning, with nausea and vomiting (liver naturally affected and urine saturated uric acid). Shooting pains over left eye, in crown and occiput. Very intense pain, sometimes like a shock, on shaking the head. ECZEMA on the head and face, on the folds of the joints, in the vagina and anus. Dry scaly crusts, firmly seated and difficult to separate in the presence of uterine disorders, indicate predominantly sepia. The rash periodically gets wet. It often takes a round or annular shape, especially at the folds of the joints. Worse during and after menses; from the warmth in bed. Skin diseases are often followed by uterine disorders. BRONCHITIS: expectoration of dirty, salty phlegm. Decline of strength, worse in the evening, ptosis. Sudden loss of vision.

effect on the body

Physiological action The effect of sepia from the very beginning of the experiment manifests itself on the sympathetic nervous system and, mainly, on the vasomotors. Indeed, after four hours, an increase in blood circulation is noticed, hot flushes to the head, which end in sweat, fainting and loss of strength. At the same time, there is irritation of the nervous system with excitement and melancholy. This is followed by venous congestion. It is especially noticeable in the portal vein system, hence the congestion in the liver and uterus. Overflow of veins in the extremities causes a painful sensation of weakness, twitching, heaviness, especially noticeable in the thighs, after sleep. There are fainting spells, prostration, general loss of strength; the flabby muscles themselves relax even more, hence the prolapse of the rectum, the inactivity of the intestines.This general dysfunction of the body produces visible changes in the skin, which become yellow, earthy. The mucous membranes are also affected: the discharge is always mucopurulent, greenish-yellow in color, not irritating; due to irritation of the mucous membrane of the urinary tract, diseases of the urethra with pain and bladder are observed; irritation of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract causes a dry, incessant cough, aggravated by cold. Later, there is a discharge of greenish-yellow sputum, as in early stages consumption. There is also a lethargic, chronic, with abundant green and yellow highlight catarrh of the nose, as in pulsatilla, but the effect of sepia is deeper - often the bones may also be affected, as in the lake. Peculiarities Worse, morning and evening, new and full moon. Ameliorated in the afternoon. The predominant side is left.

dosage

Medium and high dilutions are most commonly used. Low rubbing is beneficial for diseases of the throat, uterus, and skin. For leucorrhoea, the first decimal rubbing of five centigrams twice a day is often necessary, says Piedvasz.

The components of the medicines used by homeopathy are taken from nature, no synthetics. Everything that is available to a person becomes the basis of a medicinal substance. Among such substances there are also very unusual in origin, such as sepia. Homeopathy indications for the use of this remedy are very extensive, and the substance itself is quite interesting.

Transformation

An ordinary underwater inhabitant with a funny name lives at the bottom of the sea - cuttlefish. It feeds on small fish and crustaceans, hiding at the bottom. And people are carefully studying those like her, and have already found out that there are about 30 species of cuttlefish, some of them can be eaten. And then there is the cuttlefish, which is used in alternative medicine. It is called that - medicinal cuttlefish. Not so long ago, cuttlefish shells and the contents of an ink sac were used as medicine. Today, it is ink that has become a substance widely used in homeopathy for medicinal purposes. And the scientific name of this marine inhabitant Sepia gave the name to the homeopathic component - sepia.

Once upon a time there was an artist

An unusual natural ingredient is sepia. Homeopathy has extensive indications, including the use of cuttlefish ink in the treatment of many conditions. The history of the appearance of this natural component in the arsenal of alternative medicine is also interesting.

Once upon a time there was one artist 200 years ago, his name, unfortunately, has not been preserved in history. And his friend was the founder of homeopathy, Christian Hahnemann. The artist became very ill, weakness and malaise did not allow him to live full life, and no matter how they treated him, no matter what remedies were prescribed by both the doctors and the friend of Christians, nothing helped. But one day Hahnemann visited the workshop where the patient was working. The homeopath noticed that cuttlefish ink is used as one of the paints, and so that they do not dry out, the artist constantly grinds the brush with this paint in his mouth. Then such paint was very common and was considered absolutely harmless. But Hahnemann suddenly realized that, perhaps, in the regular use of cuttlefish ink, lies the reason for the artist's discomfort. He advised a friend to rinse the brush in water to keep the ink out of the body. The artist followed the advice of a friend and after a while felt much better. And Hahnemann incorporated the contents of a cuttlefish ink sac into the arsenal of ingredients, giving it the name Sepia (homeopathy). The indications for the use of this new substance have been researched and received a huge field of activity.

How does the substance work?

In terms of biological composition, cuttlefish ink is a storehouse of useful substances - vitamins, amino acids involved in cholesterol metabolism. But in the same waste product of the marine life, poison is also contained, with which the cuttlefish scares away predators hunting it. This is why cuttlefish ink extract should be used with extreme caution. What processes in the body can be caused by sepia? Homeopathy indications for the use of this substance are the same as when this component is taken in sufficiently large doses:

  • spasm of blood vessels and increased sweating;
  • cold feet and hot hands;
  • inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose, manifested by the release of greenish pus;
  • the occurrence of nosebleeds even with slight mechanical stress;
  • herpes-like rashes and dark spots appear on the skin;
  • joints weaken, flat feet may develop;
  • depression of mood, then the patient feels fear, turning into emptiness and indifference.

A feature of therapy is that it uses those substances that are capable of causing the same reaction of the body as it manifests itself during an illness. Therefore, knowing how sepia can affect a person in large doses, practicing homeopaths calculate indications for its use in certain diseases.

When is Sepia appointed?

As with any homeopathic substance, cuttlefish ink extract is used in certain concentrations. The calculation is carried out in the number of drops of the drug per 100 ml. pure water... For example, 200 drops of ink per 100 ml of water would be "Sepia 200". Homeopathy sees the following indications for the use of such a high concentration of this substance:

  • leucorrhoea (leucorrhea);
  • Gospell's disease (jaundice);
  • stomach ache;
  • inflammation of the sinuses;
  • gonorrhea;
  • dyspepsia;
  • constipation (for a long time);
  • fetid coryza (ozena);
  • toothache;
  • itching (pruritus);
  • whooping cough;
  • hemorrhages (apoplexy);
  • defecation disorders (the so-called "sheep's stool");
  • nosebleeds;
  • pleurisy;
  • psoriasis;
  • spasms of the anus;
  • cracks in the anus and rectum;
  • lip cancer;
  • ozena;
  • lip cancer;
  • rectal cancer;
  • phimosis.

For the concentration of the drug "Sepia 30" homeopathy determines the indications for use as follows:

  • alcohol withdrawal;
  • alopecia;
  • amenorrhea;
  • warts;
  • herpetic eruptions;
  • dermatomycosis;
  • dysmenorrhea;
  • cysts, tumors and ovarian cancer;
  • condylomas
  • prolapse of the uterus;
  • pityriasis (lichen rosacea);
  • ptosis of the upper eyelid;
  • seborrhea;
  • toxicosis of pregnant women;
  • tonsillitis;
  • uterine tone;
  • trichophytosis (ringworm);
  • chloasma;
  • cold allergy;
  • cystitis;
  • eczema;
  • enuresis.

Sepia helps with many female problems, ranging from appearance (acne, acne, skin rashes, pigmentation) and ending with toxicosis of pregnant women or prolapse of the uterus.

If the drug cannot be used

The smallest dosage (potency) of the drug "Sepia" is 6. Homeopathy offers indications for the use of such small doses of the drug mainly for women who are going to become a mother or for older women in order to improve their well-being in menopause... But even such an insignificant concentration of the agent has a contraindication for use - an individual intolerance to the drug - extracts from cuttlefish ink. An increase in the effect of the substance is possible if the dosage is incorrectly selected. Then it is necessary to visit a homeopath to reduce either the dose or the number of receptions of the remedy.

Some features

One of the female alternative medicine remedies is sepia. Homeopathy sees indications for the use of a product from the sea most often in the female sphere - beauty, appearance, hormonal balance - the area of use of cuttlefish ink. But even for men, it sometimes becomes a necessary ingredient in natural medicine treatment. Sometimes this remedy is indicated for children. But before prescribing sepia to a child, the homeopath must make sure that he absolutely has no contraindications to such a drug. There is a feature of using sepia - for half an hour before a meal, hold the drug in your mouth for a while, only then swallow it.

Psychotype Sepia

Homeopathy does not work with some a separate disease... The subject of her work is the whole organism - its bodily and spiritual essence. And for each drug that alternative medicine uses, the psychotype of people is determined. Sepia is most often a woman, thin, black-haired, with an unhealthy jaundiced complexion. Although such a psychotype can be found both among men and children - lazy, depressed, often angry and dissatisfied with the world around them, who love loneliness and pay little attention to those around them, even to relatives and friends. Such people often suffer from headaches, pathological processes occurring in the genital area, they have active sweating, an unhealthy complexion.
