Independent subject photography of products for the online store. How to photograph goods for sale

  • Date: 20.03.2019

Many of us know that product photos in online stores occupy a dominant place on the road to success. It is not enough to have a great product. You must also be able to show it in such a way that there is a great desire to make a purchase. Let's speculate today what pictures on Etsy should be, so that they sell your products themselves.

By the way, I really love Etsy. This site brought together talented people around the world. It is interesting for me to watch the stores that have been on Etsy for a long time, to analyze their growth and development. What were their products and photos at the very beginning, and what these stores have achieved now.

Let's think with you, what else should you pay attention to in order to make our photos even better?

This article is prepared on the basis of materials published on Etsi. The original can be read. So let's get started!

Today, in this lively and competitive time, when selling online, it’s not enough to have just awesome products, you also need to take care of fabulous photos. At Etsy, thousands of sellers are competing for the attention of buyers, so it is very important to make brilliant photos.

Why are great photos worth more than a thousand words?

Gorgeous photos are high-quality photos with a twist and a unique feature. There are so many moments that can be described in the description of the product (description), but even if you made a stunning text, the buyer still clings to the photo itself and makes its first choice based on it. Photography is usually the first reason why the buyer decides to visit the store. After you capture the attention of the buyer, then the quality of the photo comes into play. If the product is displayed on the photo, you can see in detail all the parts and angles - most likely the buyer will choose your product.

Excellent photos create the need for a product.

"Life" pictures, rich in atmosphere, will help the buyer to choose your product. If you help the buyer to imagine himself in this photo, he is more likely to want to buy your product. Even a small hint that he “personified” himself with this product will help him make a choice, sometimes even impulsively. Try to avoid too stylized and creative photos, it can scare away those buyers who do not like a particular style. Neutral background with a minimum of details is a good option.

Good photos will inspire confidence in your brand.

By making clear, sharp photos (“in focus”), you create the impression of a professional. These photos show customers that you care not only about your product, but also about your business, and more importantly, about your customers.

Dark, vague images simply will not force customers to even open your listing. This way they will go to other sellers. A potential buyer may think that if you do not care about the image of the store, most likely you do not pay enough attention to other aspects of the business, such as customer service, product packaging, timely dispatch.

Have you noticed this feeling? When you go to the shops where the photos of the goods are dark, “noisy”, it seems that the seller is not creating these things professionally, without paying due attention to quality or service.

Stylish photos will strengthen your brand image.

It is not enough to look professional only. Beautiful, stylish photos can be a great way to make your brand even more serious and memorable.

You can use the design of your photos as a distinctive feature of your store. For example, if your brand is modern and minimalistic, the use of simple backgrounds and modern requisites will further strengthen your brand. Or, for example, if you focus on organic matter, the use of natural textures, such as wood, will further strengthen this feeling among visitors to the store. Similarly, if you use metal and brick surfaces in shops with an industrial theme.

Great brand image creates trust

After you have told the story of your brand through images and photos and won the trust of customers, they will remember your brand. You will have more chances that they will recommend you to others, even if they themselves have not made your purchase. Your photos will be shared on social networks, added to the treasure, on the boards in Pintest. Just because they look professional. And you, in turn, will feel even more successful.

Conclusion

I just decided for myself that it was time to change the style of photos in my store. Did you have new ideas for photographing your products?

In this article, I want to talk about what mistakes should not be made in the subject photography of goods for an online store or any other similar resource. There is not a lot of such information in the network, and I hope that my article will help to streamline the obvious, but not obvious problems for photographers, retouchers, designers and people related to e-commerce. Also, compliance with all these simple rules can increase the conversion of an online store, because visual content is essential for perception and one of the main factors in making a purchase decision.

1. Too processed photos

When processing a photo, remember the golden rule: the smaller, the better. To get a good image of the product, it is enough to photograph it with a properly tuned camera with correctly exposed light. Do not abuse the possibilities of Photoshop. Too intensive processing of photos will make images of your product unnatural. And this, in turn, will lead to the fact that your goods will be returned more often.

So, one of the most annoying mistakes - over-treated leather models, especially in the photos of products from the category "Beauty and Health". Working with the appearance of the skin, it is necessary to preserve its texture, color and shade.

2. Defocused / blurry photos

The client wants to consider the texture, material and every detail of your product. Defocused, blurry or fuzzy pictures will disappoint him. High-quality images of the "subject" clean, lit and fully in focus. Check the depth of the sharply displayed space, use the shortest possible shutter speed and lock the camera while shooting with a tripod. The aperture value should be f / 11 or higher, while the ISO level should be as low as possible. ISO 100 is an ideal indicator.

3. Black or color background

Using a black or colored background, you complicate future collaboration with trading platforms. Giant sites like Amazon and EBay recommend and even require the use of a white or light gray background in order to focus the buyer’s attention on the product.

4. Not enough white or gradient background

White background for the "subject" should be really, 100% white, without admixture of the gradient and gray - that is, the shade #FFFFFF. If you want to use a light gray background, it should be 100% gray (for example, # F5F5F5). Avoid gradients when shooting "Subjects."

5. Extra reflections

Photographing jewelry, watches and, in general, any brilliant products that can reject flare, is not easy - there are a number of important nuances. How to avoid distracting reflections, we will explain in detail in the next guide.

6. Too much shadow

Avoid volume and dark shadows that distract attention from the product. Too pronounced shadows make the pictures heavy and unnatural.

7. Color mismatch

Make sure that the picture correctly conveys the color of the goods. A study conducted in the USA by Voxware in 2015 showed that 54% of all returns were caused by a discrepancy in the color or quality of the goods. In other words, every second return in your online store is connected with the fact that the product in the picture does not correspond to the product in real life.

8. Bad retouching

Poorly retouched images - when dust, scratches or overt defects are visible on a product - do not contribute to consumer confidence in both the product and the company as a whole. It is better to hire a professional or use the services of an agency dealing with photo processing.

9. Wrong perspective

With a wide angle of shooting and a close distance from the subject, the product in the photo will look shortened or distorted. If you do not have the opportunity to move the optical axis of the lens, use the appropriate tool for perspective correction. Lenses with a focal length of 85-135 mm are ideal for photographing the "subject".

10. Different indents in the frame

It is extremely unprofessional when in the catalog one product seems more or less than another. Always use the same fields in your pictures and do not forget to give the goods in the photo more "air". Margins along the edges should be 5-15% of the total size of the photo.

11. One image per item

One, even the most wonderful photos is not enough for high sales. This product must be shown from different angles. EBay analyzed 6.8 million products on its platform and concluded that the product, illustrated with two images, is 7% better sold than the product with one image. A product with eight photos is sold 25% better than a product with one photo. Conclusion: more photos - more sales.

Follow the important rule: additional images should carry new information to customers. Photos that do not contain additional information, no one needs.

12. Inconsistent Shooting

Another sign of the unprofessionally made catalog is the different views of similar goods. Different lighting, different backgrounds and even different sizes of goods - all this distracts and annoys customers. Uniformity or in other words standardization
   - One of the most important components of a successful shooting of goods. Create instructions for camera settings, lighting, background and equipment location for each category of products in your online store and follow them strictly.

13. Wrong white balance

Even if your photo is technically flawless, with the wrong white balance you will get inaccurate colors or strange skin tones of the models. Most modern digital cameras allow you to manually set a custom white balance. For this, it is best to use professional equipment such as X-Rite Photo’s ColorChecker Passport Photo or ExpoDisc.

14. Remastered photos

Relight is when images are too bright, and all the details in the brightest areas are lost. This means that there is too much light on the matrix. Relight - a typical problem when shooting white or colored goods. You can control the amount of light that hits the camera's matrix by changing the ISO settings, aperture, and shutter speed.

15. Unfinished photos

Nedosvet is the opposite of overexposure. The underexposed photo is too dark, and in the shadows the seams, texture, buttons, pockets are lost - in short, all the important details. A dark photo is usually the result of too little light on the matrix while shooting. You can try to open the aperture and thus increase the amount of light or change the ISO settings and shutter speed.

16. Models with irregular posture or facial expression

Forget the bearded myth that the model should always smile. A stretched smile looks fake. A human face is able to convey more than forty expressions, so choose the one that accurately conveys your idea. Poses should be natural and comfortable.

Avoid crossed hands - they can close the product and the buyer will not see it.

17. Shooting above eye level

If your camera is above the model's eye level, the model in the picture will visually look lower and the proportions will be distorted, which is not very good for presenting your product. Always photograph products at the level of the model's eyes.

18. Unnecessary / unusual angles

Photograph from additional angles only if, thanks to these angles, the buyer finds out something new about your product. For example, it makes sense to take off a regular black T-shirt in the back only if there is a print or another element to show. Do not use unusual angles only to make your product look especially.

Experiments are good, but not in the selection of angles when photographing the "subject". Here are the most common angles for shooting goods: 1) full face; 2) full face at a large and small angle; 3) above; 4) from the bottom; 5) behind; 6) right quarter at a large and small angle; 7) the left quarter at a large and small angle; 8) right / left profile; 9) close-up (seams, logo, accessories, other details; 10) box / packing / equipment.

19. Waste Props

Props - a great tool to demonstrate the essence of the goods, as well as various ways to use it. But do not let the props play a major role. Remember: too much props in the frame distracts attention from your product and, accordingly, reduces sales. Removing the "subject" with the props, do not forget the golden rule: the smaller, the better.

20. Skewed shots

Always use a level to make sure that the table and the camera are 100% horizontal. Many professional tripods use a bubble level. We also recommend using the viewfinder grid display on the camera and match one of the grid lines with the line on the photo. After shooting, you can check the horizontal lines using the guides in Photoshop. It is especially difficult to determine the horizon for products such as rings and bracelets.

21. Grainy images

Shooting with a slow shutter speed or high ISO values may result in a grain in the photo. At high ISO, a camera sensor groups pixels to “catch” more light. As a result of this grouping, the image looks grainy. This is a problem because the buyer may not like the texture of the product due to the noise in the photo.

Shooting at lower ISOs can reduce noise in photographs. And already taken grainy photos can be easily corrected. Experts will eliminate this drawback using Photoshop.

22. Abundance of watermarks

Watermark - not unhelpful thing. If someone wants to copy and use your image, the watermark will be your copyright, and everyone will know that you are the owner of the photo. However, it will still not be possible to fully protect your photos from being copied from the website, and large watermarks distract the client’s attention from your product.

If you still decide to use a watermark, make sure that it does not affect the presentation of the image. It should be simple and easy to read.

23. No Shadow

To avoid the effect of the goods hanging in the air, always use shadows and reflections. They give the product a more realistic look and add a sense of space.

24. Contrast too low or too high.

With low contrast, the product looks flat. Contrast adds volume and visibly animates the image, but too high a contrast makes it unnatural.

The contrast level is better to adjust when processing photos, rather than during the shooting itself. If you already have photos with too low or too high contrast, entrust them to experienced specialists who will solve the problem using photo processing programs.

25. Low resolution

Large professional product images increase the conversion rate to 300%. Take great high-resolution photos. I recommend using a resolution of at least 1200x1200 pixels.

26. Unprepared goods

Many sellers do not attach importance to the preparation of the goods before the shooting, as a result of which the goods often turn out to be dirty or smooth. The product looks bad, the resulting photos look unprofessional, and consumer confidence in your company is undermined.

If you need to take pictures of clothes, gently iron them and clean the dust before filming. Always wipe jewelry, watches and any other shiny and reflective products after touching them, as well as use gloves.

27. Poor lighting

Lighting - one of the most important components of a successful shooting goods. Studio lighting can transform or spoil your shot. There are several types of studio lighting - Fill (general light), Drawing light, Modeling light, Contour (backlit), Background light. To make the perfect shot, combine several types of lighting.

28. Revaluation of their capabilities

This is one of the biggest mistakes novice online stores, boutiques and retailers. At your disposal there is no experienced, creative team, a huge studio, expensive photo and lighting equipment. You need to focus on product quality and sales, especially if you have just started. But do not forget - people can

From the author:   Hello, friends! If you can take pictures and have a good camera, then you can try working on online trading platforms. In this article I will tell you how to photograph products for an online store. This article is suitable for online stores as well as for freelancers who want to make money on their favorite business. Also here you will find tips for non-professionals who, say, want to sell a crib or stroller from which the baby has grown, or for needlewomen selling handmade goods. This information will increase the chances of well selling any products.

The main task of any trade is to entice buyers, and good photos will surely help. Of course, you can call a professional photographer, but since most startups have no money to invite a specialist who will take “magical photos”, they often call for beginners or amateurs. If you read the article to the end, you can try yourself in this type of earnings. Let's go!

So, in order to properly make high-quality photos for an online store, you need good lighting - it means pick a set of impulsive or constant light. It is important not only the amount of light, but also the uniformity, direction and size of its source.

In the jargon of photographers, there is a "soft" and "hard" light. But I will tell you more clearly: there are hard or sharp shadows, as well as soft or scattered shadows. Hard shadows are obtained when the light source is small compared to the size of the object. A soft shadow - when the size of the light source is larger than the subject. For an online store, soft shadows are commonly used.

In simple words, hard light is visually perceived worse - generally, work with soft, diffused lighting is suitable for displaying goods. My advice: use a softbox or some other diffuser. It is also recommended to work with two or three light sources, but if the budget is limited, you can use only a flash and a reflector, or natural light.

Natural light is the sun, if you can use it, that's good! After all, the sun gives enough light, and the color scheme plays as it should.

You need to draw attention to the product, to show its features. Take a photo from an unusual perspective, and close-ups will help to add a zest. Find the uniqueness of the product, emphasize the pros - cons can be hidden. You can never predict at what angle the thing photographed will make the most impression and lure the buyer. Look for different angles of shooting.

There is such a thing in photography as a blur - it turns out because of the natural shaking of the hands. We also need a high-quality snapshot, so when working with close-ups, you need to use a tripod and a timer. Remember, the slightest vibration can cause blurring photos.

Sometimes you need to show the size of the product, this trick will help you with this: put two objects side by side, include something very common in the composition - believe me, this will help the buyer to orient in the size of the goods.

Tip 4. Demonstrate the goods in their natural environment.

Based on what you are selling, you need to choose the right medium and photograph the product for the online store there. Let me explain: if this is a necklace, then it will be more profitable to demonstrate it on a beautiful model, if, say, a ring, an elegant hand will show it in the best light. If this is a coffee table, then it is better to put an open book on it. Buyers can imagine how it will look, and it will create a feeling of coziness and comfort in them that will contribute to the purchase.

In order to properly photograph the goods for the online store, you will need:

camera;

background or light cube;

a couple of useful programs.

The background can be varied: some products look good on a white background, other products on black, and others on a wooden or stone texture - the main thing is that the shooting should not take place against the background of a checkered rug, or, even worse, against the background of a carpet.

Online store on OpenCart!

Create an online store on the most popular CMS - OpenCart from scratch!

Try, experiment. Remember, you need to photograph the goods for the store as much as possible advantageously. Many photographers use a white background - it creates an endless curve.

If you need to demonstrate different colors of the product, i.e., take off clothes for an online store, take the time - show the product in all colors! I will give an example: you need to take a picture of a dress, but it is in red, black and white. In no case do not lay out just one photo of the dress with the postscript "available in a different tone." It is important not just to say, but also to show potential buyers the full range of colors of this product.

Do not rush to delete photos! Some photos may seem unsuccessful to you on the camera screen, but you do not need to delete them immediately. Download the entire photo session to your computer; on the big screen, the pictures look different.

Not guided in the settings? Use the flower mode! For those with a camera on "you": trust its auto settings. Many modern cameras have a macro mode, which is usually denoted by the picture "Flower". When you need to photograph a small object, this setting will come to your aid. Believe me, to photograph small objects is what you need! The depth of field is increased, and the camera itself shows the merits of the product.

I can upset you, but photography is just the beginning. Still need to edit the image. Some sites are suitable only for a certain size of the photo, and it is better if you know this value in advance.

Images before adding to the site need to compress, align, change the brightness, remove them too much. I can advise a few useful programs:

Adobe Photoshop;

Microsoft Office.

In fact, the programs are a whole mass, all have their own capabilities, advantages and disadvantages. Choose yourself suitable - the one with which it will be easy and pleasant to work.

Possible mistakes:

blurry photo - do not bring the image quality to the level of the phone, use a camera, or even better, with a tripod;

angle - you need to show all the details of the product, to do this, select the desired angle point;

lighting - should not be too bright, but weak is also not an option;

glare - this is a very common mistake in photographs of pictures;

bad background - look at what background you are photographing the product. It is very important that there are no foreign objects in the background;

The first thing that a potential buyer will see when he finds one of your product catalogs or one of the items is not characteristics, but photos. The first impression of the buyer about your product and store depends on the quality and usability of the photo. Attractive product images will increase the likelihood of buying it from you, and unsuccessful photos will certainly force people to explore the market further.

Compare two pairs of images of the same watch model - taken from two portals of real online stores:

This is a bad example.   Although the photo is its own, unique, and even the color and overall shape of the watch is visible - but it’s impossible to examine the product in detail with this image quality, and the buckle-buckle is not shown. And we are talking about a thin precision instrument, which is a noticeable accessory, almost an ornament. Therefore, the buyer needs to see all the aesthetic and functional micronuations - both the dial and the buckle strap,

This is a great example.   The same watches as above, but in professional photographic images - both of a general plan and important when wearing a part - advantageously represent the goods to the buyer.

So, we formulate the first two rules for photographing goods for an online store:

The larger the subject is in size - the larger must be the photos with functional details in close-up

It is especially important to show the parts touched and moved. with each use   (for example, fasteners of clothes, shoes, bags, accessories; buttons, equipment tumblers) or very important for convenience of initial installation   (side and rear panels of equipment with connectors, plugs and wires).

It is also appropriate to submit photos of parts that reveal the composition of the goods, if it is difficult to submit this composition in text form — say, pages of books, especially illustrated ones.

When selling large goods with small but multifunctional control boards (for example, a washing machine), do not forget to give separate close-up of the control panel   - for it, and not for the general view of the entire product, buyers seek to assess the possibilities and convenience of managing the device.

Where to take photos of products for the online store?

You can not use photos of competitors.Never, under any circumstances, use unique photos of goods posted on the portals of competing stores and created by them. Firstly, it is, most often, illegal. Secondly, you or your employees may not notice or delete the watermark and the internal code attributes of someone else's photo - but they will be noticed by users-specialists. After that, their confidence in your store will drastically decrease, and, on the contrary, to the source competitor, the photo will increase.

You can use such options for creating photo content:

Option without cost - for beginners and intermediaries

Use photos from the manufacturer's website, giving a link to the source of the photo (in rare cases, an agreement with the site administration or the manufacturer itself is also required). The obvious disadvantage of this option is that all photos will be identical to those placed by most intermediary stores.

Economy option

Make and process photos of the goods yourself. If you have photo processing skills in graphic editors, you can save your budget. If you doubt your abilities, you can take a photo personally, but then find a freelancer for photo processing - it is most convenient to look for such inexpensive services using the services of kabanchik.ua, kabanchik.ru, kabanchik.by and megamaster.kz in the respective countries. The disadvantages of this option: the time costs with a huge assortment of you will be very large; pictures, if you are not a professional photographer, you may not be perfect; you may have to buy the minimum acceptable technique for photographing goods for photographing goods

The best option

If you want to get the perfect photo for an online store, hire a designer photographer for a photo shoot of your range. A definite plus: the quality of photos, saving your time. Disadvantages of the option: the cost of a photo shoot with the treatment of a professional designer can be a very significant blow to the budget of small and medium businesses

How to choose pictures of goods

Do not use flash   (Ideally, you need a special constant light illuminator, "Jupiter"). With a flash, the objects turn out to be “illuminated”, with unfavorable glare, spots appear on the photo. At the same time, do not forget to follow the shadow - a product without a shadow looks schematic and flat, a product with a striking shadow may not look quite adequate to its image.

In addition, it is desirable that the subject was located in the frame centered not cropped on either side, occupied 60-80% of the image; leave free fields on all sides. The image should not be extra items and items   frames and ornaments, signatures (except your watermark).

The subject for the photo must be clean - free of stains, dust, fingerprints, and comply with the requirements for presentation for such a product.

If the product has a defect (for example, factory marriage), this should be mentioned in the description and be sure to do separate photo   defect.

Also, beware of too bright or too dark a background. The best background is solid, neutral:   for example, beige, light gray, white. Such a background does not attract undue attention to itself, but allows the potential buyer to concentrate fully on the product.

To make your site look more attractive, use as much as possible. same background   for all products.

And finally, we give two more illustrative examples:

This is the wrong photo:   the goods are not located in the center; added frame, labels; the color is clearly filtered, and unnaturally.

This is the correct selling photo.   Agree, you want to buy this product.

Recently, our staff conducted a survey of online stores and found that the quality of photographs of goods often becomes a decisive factor in the purchase. A “tasty” and informative photo showing the product from all sides attracts the buyer, because it’s better to see once than to read a dozen descriptions.

To photograph goods so that they want to buy is not as easy as it seems. Especially if there are thousands of products in the store, there is no money for the services of the pros, and your photographer’s experience comes down to amateur photography of cats and vacations.

Four options for what to do in this situation.

Take photos from competitors

Plus, there is only one: it is relatively fast and free. A lot of cons. First, finding photos without watermarks is not easy. Secondly, buyers will have no better opinion about you if they understand that the photos are not yours (and they will understand, because they must have seen the competitors' stores before they came to you). Thirdly and most importantly: if the owner of the photo sues you, for every stolen photo you have to pay 10 thousand rubles in fine.

Take photos from the manufacturer's website

This method selects the majority, so be prepared that your competitors will have the same photos. Another drawback: search engines do not like non-unique content, images are also concerned.

Hire a photographer

He will make high-quality and unique photos. But not every store can afford such expenses. In addition, it will be difficult to do if you have thousands of items in the catalog and the assortment is constantly changing.

Photograph the goods themselves

This way is suitable for owners of small stores, whose budget is not designed for the salary of a full-time photographer. Photographing goods yourself is not as difficult as it seems. And now we will tell you why.

What is needed for photographing goods?

1. Camera. Enough middle class SLR with remote control or timer mode. To make the image clear, the camera must be absolutely still. If you press the shutter button, it is difficult to achieve immobility. This requires a remote or timer mode.

Important!

Do not use the built-in flash: it distorts colors, makes the image “flat” and does not sell at all. You can purchase an external flash (for this, the camera must have a special connector for it). If you are not ready to spend money on it, there is an easier way - the right lighting.

2. Lamps. Two LED or energy saving fluorescent lights will help provide soft light. They need to highlight the product from two sides, removing sharp shadows. Install the lamps in the fixtures on the brackets so that you can adjust the height and distance of the light source from the object.

3. Tripod. Do not take pictures with your hands! No matter how straightforward they are, and no matter what settings you use, when you take pictures with hands, the frames are blurry. If not everyone, then in one or two. This is especially true for medium-sized items. Buy a tripod, compared to a camera, it is inexpensive.

And it's all? - the incredulous reader will ask.

Of the mandatory technology - yes. With this set you can make decent photos that will present your products in all its glory. Unless, of course, have the proper share of creativity and find the appropriate shooting technology for themselves.

We will share one such technology with you.

Layfkhak how to make selling photos of the house on the windowsill

All you need is a wide window sill and cloudy weather outside the window. In this case, the light will be soft and sun spots will not spoil the photo. As a background, substitute a sheet of white cardboard, thick fabric that does not fold, or another suitable material. If you photograph flat small objects and shoot them from above, this is quite enough.

If you are shooting a non-flat object, and you need to transfer its volume, the light from the window will be small. It is necessary to illuminate and the second, opposite to the window, the side of the object. To do this, use a reflector, for example, the same sheet of cardboard. It will reflect the light from the window, emphasize the fine details and the texture of the object that would be lost in the shade without it.

Home photo studio on the windowsill - nothing complicated!

If the light is still not enough, use additional light sources - lamps on mounts with adjustable height. Choose lamps of the same power and color spectrum. Set them at the same distance from the object, a few test attempts - and you get a beautiful, like a studio, a photo without shadows and highlights.

What if the window sill trick didn't work - another life hack

Take a cardboard box of cubic or almost cubic shape, slightly larger in size than your goods. Cut out the small windows on the opposite walls of the box. Cover the windows with tracing paper or a translucent cloth. Glue white paper on the bottom and back of the box for the background.

Such a device is called a "lightcube". If you do not want to be homemade, you can buy it in the photo shop by selecting the desired size and background color inside.

Lightcub. Analog can be made from improvised means.

In fact, in specialized stores there is absolutely everything for beautiful photos of objects. Tables for subject shooting, reflectors, special lighting, external flashes - in general, everything you need for a professional photo studio. True, prices like a little. For example, the simplest table for subject shooting there costs about $ 200.

What should be the photos in the online store: check list

There is no limit to perfection, and the photo can be improved to infinity. But there are minimum requirements that apply to all stores and photos of goods. If the photos do not meet these requirements, then it is generally better not to post them.

Frame in focus. Do you think that goes without saying? Take a closer look - a lot of fuzzy photos “walk” around the network. Sometimes it is so fuzzy that small details, texture, inscriptions are indistinguishable.

Matching color.Do not want customers to receive a complaint after receiving the goods? Then let the product in the photo be the same color as it actually is. Lilac instead of silver, blue instead of white and even dirty brown instead of gray - there are many color discrepancies. To avoid them, do not use the built-in flash, do not shoot with artificial yellow light and do not get carried away with processing.

Color mismatch example

Plain background. Photographing goods on the background of a bedspread or laminate is a bad form, even if you do not have a full-fledged store, but a small VKontakte marketplace. The background does not have to be white. If you have light goods, shoot them on a dark background - for contrast. It will be even better.

Photos from several angles.   For some reason, we are accustomed to take pictures of the front, back and side, mostly models in clothes. And in vain. The buyer will tell you "thank you" if you show him what a jar of shampoo looks like from behind, show the top view of the service, remove furniture from different angles.

What to press in the camera and what modes to choose, you will understand from the instructions and after a small workout. And we will complete the article with an advice about which they will not write in the instructions.

Shoot so that you don’t have to process it or the processing is minimal. First, photo processing also takes time (if you do it yourself) or money (if you hire a person). And secondly, the photo, which was originally shot well, is superior in quality to the photo, which was shot poorly and processed to make it good.

These tips together with your time and patience will be enough to make photos of decent quality yourself. Photos that are nice to watch and sell.
