Taking the Unified State Exam in an early period: advantages and disadvantages. Personal experience: how was the early exam in mathematics

  • Date: 26.09.2019

At the request of graduates of the Unified State Exam and the OGE, if there are sufficient grounds, it can be carried out ahead of schedule. To do this, at the time of passing the GIA, it is imperative to successfully pass the intermediate certification and have admission to the delivery of the GIA. The procedure for early admission to the GIA differs for different categories of graduates.

Graduates of 9th grade may be admitted to early passing the exam only if there are well-documented reasons.

26. For students who are unable, for valid reasons, documented, to pass the GIA within the time limits established in accordance with paragraphs 24 and 25 of this Procedure, the GIA is carried out ahead of schedule, but not earlier than April 20, in the forms established by this Procedure. (p. 26)

Graduates of 11th grade can be admitted to the early USE at will.

29. For students, the GIA, at their request, can be held ahead of schedule, but not earlier than March 1, in the forms established by this Procedure. ()

Graduates previous years, having a certificate of completion of 11 grades, college graduates, or students who received unsatisfactory results according to the results of the last year's SIA and left school with a certificate, pass the USE exclusively ahead of schedule or at an additional time.

For graduates of previous years, the Unified State Exam is held ahead of schedule, but not earlier than March 1, and (or) at additional dates for the Unified State Exam in the forms established by this Procedure.

Participation in exams for graduates of previous years on other dates of the Unified State Exam is allowed only if they have valid reasons (illness or other circumstances confirmed by documents) and the relevant decision of the State Electoral Commission. ()

In 2019, the early period for the Unified State Exam is set from March 20 to April 10, for the OGE - from April 22 to May 14.

How to solve the issue of handing over the GIA in an early period

Grade 9 students must additionally document that they cannot take exams during the main period for a good reason, such good reasons may be illness and the need to undergo a rehabilitation course in the main and additional periods of the OGE, family relocation to a permanent place of residence in another country and others. exceptional cases. Graduates of the 9th grade who received unsatisfactory results according to the results of the last year's OGE and have a certificate with the results of intermediate certification can be admitted to the early delivery of the OGE.

To pass the GIA in an early period, 11th grade students need to write an application addressed to the school director, indicating the reason. As a rule, the need to pass the exam ahead of schedule arises:

  • if in May-June they will be in sanatoriums and other medical institutions on health-improving or rehabilitation programs;
  • if graduates are participants in competitions, olympiads or competitions, and the term of the competition or training coincides with the term passing the exam in the main thread. Such competitions and olympiads can be both national and international;
  • if eleventh graders plan to move to another country after graduation. Note that the move may be associated not only with emigration, but also with plans to continue education on a student visa at a foreign university;
  • if the graduates of evening schools this year have to go to military service.

Advantages of early USE

The options for the Unified State Exam for the early flow are not easier than the options for the main flow. Difficulty level of all options current year is similar. but

More time to choose a university

One of the main advantages of taking the USE ahead of schedule is the extra time to make an important decision. Graduates who passed the USE ahead of schedule, by the end of April already know their results, and can calculate their chances of admission to the chosen university. For this, open days and education fairs are suitable. And if the results of the exams do not please the graduate, then the decision about where to enter and what profession to choose will not have to be made in a hurry.

It is also important to reduce the pre-examination fuss. The last two months of study will not be held in such tension as other students taking the exam in the main course.

A more relaxed atmosphere in the exam

The first spring wave of those passing the USE is incomparably less than the main stream. So, in 2017, 26.5 thousand people took part in the early delivery, and in the main flow - 703 thousand. Note, however, that in 2018, 41 thousand graduates fell on the early wave. But despite the fact that the number of early adopters has grown, compared to the main stream, there are still very few of them. It is easy to imagine the level of intensity of the nervously excited graduates who gathered so massively in the mainstream. The early wave in such a comparison looks much calmer: in large cities, only a few dozen people can gather in examination centers, and only a few in smaller settlements. Do not forget about the graduates of previous years, who could change their minds and did not show up for the exam in an early wave. In addition, since it is the graduates of previous years who make up the bulk of the early wave, the atmosphere in the classrooms is less tense, because, due to their age, they are more relaxed about exams. Being able to calm down on the exam is critical to getting successful results. Also, a small number of people in the audience minimizes preliminary instruction: verification of bar codes, control of filling out forms, etc., which also reduces anxiety.

Good organization and comfortable conditions

In 2018, in the early period of the Unified State Exam, about 41 thousand people took it, mostly graduates of previous years. Since there were few examiners, only 245 examination sites were involved. For a small number of examination points, it is characteristic to remove special attention to all organizational issues. Therefore, in the early period, there are practically no technical problems and organizational violations usually do not occur. It is also unlikely that you will face a shortage of additional forms or, for example, the absence of a watch in the classroom.

Many cities in Russia are characterized by a very changeable summer. Therefore, taking exams at the end of May and June may not be very comfortable physically. If it comes out on a hot day during the exam, it can get quite stuffy in the classroom, and the organizers do not always agree to open the windows. In a cold summer, you can face the opposite situation - in June the heating has long been turned off, the audience is chilled out and the cold also interferes with concentration. In the spring, in the early period of the USE, the temperature in the audience is more predictable.

Quick check

Since fewer works are checked in the early period of the USE, the experts cope with the check faster. Usually works are checked 7-9 days, but scores can be published a few days earlier. Upon delivery in the main flow, the verification of work takes about two weeks.

Cons of taking the exam early

Less preparation time

The main disadvantage of taking the USE ahead of schedule is the less time for preparation compared to the main stream. This will be the most important disadvantage for eleventh graders who decide to take the USE ahead of schedule. This is due to the fact that some topics of the school course included in the USE program can be studied at the very end school year... Graduates will have to get to know them on their own.

The unexpectedness of changes in the KIM USE

As you know, every year options for the exam change. Since the early period is the first wave, new control and measuring materials are presented there. Graduates who will take the USE in the main stream, teachers will have time to prepare for the changes, focusing on the data published after the early submission. Such data are FIPI demo versions and options that were solved in an early stream. Those planning to take the exam in the spring cannot count on this luxury and must be prepared for the unexpected.

Harder to prepare

Graduates who take exams in the main stream take first trial exam, which take place at the end of the school year. Due to the fact that the early wave of delivery takes place in March-April, graduates who have joined it are deprived of the opportunity to pass exams on trial. Sometimes you can find practice exams in the district education departments, but often such an exam turns out to be paid. Many students use online services to prepare, but this method can also fail. Often, site owners, when laying out options, are guided by the deadlines for the delivery of the main stream and do not have time to adapt the CMM for all the changes this year.

Territorial remoteness of the exam

As we have already mentioned, the number of people who take the USE ahead of schedule is not numerous. Accordingly, there are much fewer examination sites. For comparison, in the early period in 2018, 245 examination points were organized, and in the main stream of 2017 - 4.5 thousand. This leads to the fact that residents of all districts of a territorially large city can take the exam in one of the subjects at one point. For residents of remote areas, this can be quite problematic.

The unified state exam has a flexible schedule that takes into account the possibilities of everyone who wants to take it. Schoolchildren will have to pass it in mandatory, but graduates of colleges and previous years can choose when to take.

The exam takes place in two stages - Early and Basic. In earlier years, there were several waves: early recruits, medalists, etc. However, over time, all this was simplified and now there are only two stages.

In this article, we will be interested in the early stage. It starts in March and ends in April. The early stage, in terms of its tasks and conditions, practically does not differ from the main one.

Who can take the Unified State Exam at an early stage?

The following are allowed for the early exam:

  • graduates of previous years;
  • graduates of colleges, technical schools, schools;
  • guys who will have military service on the spring draft;
  • schoolchildren who have to move to another country for permanent residence;
  • participants in all-Russian or international competitions and contests that take place during the main stage;
  • graduates who will have planned treatment during the main stage;<
  • graduates who, due to geographic and climatic conditions, will not be able to attend the main stage.

In any case, in order to become a participant in the early USE, you need to provide reasons for this. That is why some graduates try to have grounds for passing the exam at an early stage.

Advantages of the early stage of the exam

The fact that many are trying to pass the exam at an early stage is explained by some advantages:

  • The sooner you get rid of this exam, the better. It is difficult to spend a whole year, or even two, in the exam preparation mode, to pass the exam ahead of schedule.
  • Less participants, fuss and mistakes in the organization. These are undoubted advantages.
  • Exam results are published much earlier.
  • The weather is better too. It is hot during the main stage, and cooler in spring, i.e. conditions are more comfortable.

Disadvantages of early examinations

Fast does not mean better, so the early USE also has disadvantages:

  • There is little time for preparation, and you still have to go through part of the school curriculum on your own;
  • In some subjects, you will have to be the first to recognize changes in the structure of the exam;
  • If you do not live in a big city, then you will have to travel far to the point for early delivery of the exam.

In any case, the early stage of the USE differs little from the main stage. We would like to warn you that many people think that tasks on the early USE are easier than at the main stage. This is not true. Basically, this opinion is formed due to the fact that one version, which is published on the official website, is often more demo than real. Therefore, looking at the published early options, do not flatter yourself, the real options are much more complicated.

School graduates take state exams annually in late May and early June. This period is called the main one. The developers of the exams provided the opportunity to pass the state certification at a different time - an early period.

If you have objective reasons, then you have the right to sign up for an early time.

There are many stereotypes around this option for passing exams. We intend to dispel them, so we will tell you about the conditions and main characteristics regarding the early stage.

Criteria for early delivery

Graduates can pass the Unified State Exam ahead of schedule if there is a valid reason. It is considered the situations that will take place during the main exam:

  • conscription;
  • stay in medical institutions according to the recommendations of medical staff in order to carry out medical procedures of various kinds and nature;
  • participation in domestic or international sports competitions, competitions, training camps or olympiads;
  • moving on a permanent basis or in order to continue studying at a foreign university abroad;
  • training in the evening form of education;
  • education takes place outside the Russian Federation in another country with particularly difficult climatic features, but in a Russian educational institution.

An important condition is the fact that in order to confirm the above points, the educational institution is required to provide the relevant supporting documents.

Who can take early?

Young people who have mastered the school curriculum have the right to choose.

This is about:

  • (both about those who graduated from school many years ago, and those who received a certificate only a couple of years ago);
  • children who graduated from technical schools, lyceums, schools and have the appropriate certification certificates.

And, of course, this opportunity applies to the current eleventh graders who have one of the above reasons.

IMPORTANT: in order to get admission to the early passing of the state exam, you need to write an application addressed to the director, indicating the circumstance and attaching a copy of the supporting document.

Time spending

Annually in October-November, the dates of early state tests are published. Usually the period starts in March and ends in early April.

For example, in 2018, the surrender took place from 21.03 to 11.04.

To find out your key dates, see the information on the website of the Federal Institute for Pedagogical Measurements.

Difficulty of the exam

There is an opinion that the questions for preliminary certification are easier, because graduates of past school programs participate in them - those who did not go through some topics and did not come across a certain format of assignments. And it is for this reason that many teens want to get involved earlier.

This is the first and most significant misconception. Perhaps a few years ago there was just such a situation. However, now there is no reason to doubt the validity of the collected options in the main and early periods. You just need to refer to reviews and online analysis of assignments.

The guys who have passed this stage admit that the questions that have been drawn up are quite complex. Most of the conditions seemed familiar, but even they were so complicated that they caused embarrassment. High school students did not expect to see some tasks and were not ready for them. In this connection, they did not cope with the test - they did not score the required minimum points. According to experienced teachers, even more complex than usual questions are encountered.

The main thing in successfully passing the state test is high-quality training. Graduates choosing to take the exam ahead of schedule should consider their degree of test preparation. It is better to set aside a couple more months for study, if possible. Otherwise, the pace of material development should be accelerated.

The future of a teenager depends on the results of the exam, so haste is inappropriate here. Before making a decision in this matter, we strongly advise you to think carefully.

Those who have already fully mastered the school curriculum have the unconditional right to independently choose between the early and the main wave of passing the unified state exam. This:

  • graduates of previous years, regardless of the "statute of limitations" of the certificate (those who left school many years ago and last year's graduates who want to improve their results have the right to take ahead of schedule);

  • graduates of technical schools, lyceums and colleges, who have already fully completed the development of the course of a comprehensive school.

In addition, some categories of eleventh graders also have the right to take the Unified State Exam without waiting for the end of the last academic year. These include:

  • evening school graduates who will go into military service this year;

  • children who, after graduating from school, leave for permanent residence in another country - regardless of whether we are talking about emigration or a student visa to continue their education at a foreign university or college;

  • participants in national or international competitions, olympiads or contests - if the term of the competition or training camp coincides with the main stage of the USE;

  • eleventh graders who in May-June will be in sanatoriums and other medical institutions for treatment and recreation or rehabilitation programs;

  • graduates of Russian schools located outside the borders of Russia - if they are located in areas with difficult climatic conditions.

In order to be able to pass the USE ahead of schedule, eleventh graders must write an application addressed to the director of their school, indicating the reason.

The main advantages of taking the exam in the early period

There is a common myth that the USE options for the early period are easier than for the main one. This is not the case, the difficulty level of the options for all examiners of the current year is the same. However, some of the organizational features of the spring "wave" do allow some to achieve higher scores.

Less people - less nerves

The early period for passing the exam is incomparable in terms of mass with the main one. For example, in 2016 all over Russia 26 thousand people took exams ahead of schedule - and in the summer "wave" the number of examiners approached 700 000. As a result, not hundreds of extremely excited schoolchildren gather in metropolitan areas for examinations - but only a few dozen people ( and in less large settlements, the account for "early expirations" can go to a few). In addition, some graduates of previous years who applied for the USE may change their minds by the day of the exam and will not show up for the test - as a result, 6-8 applicants may eventually sit in an audience designed for 15 people. Moreover, some of them will be adults, usually taking the exam, than the average schoolchildren, "wound up" by numerous conversations that the Unified State Exam will decide their fate.

This makes the general psychological situation on the exam an order of magnitude less nervous. And, as the experience of many graduates shows, the ability to calm down and concentrate while taking the exam plays a decisive role. In addition, with a small number of applicants, the time for preliminary instructions and "organizational questions" is significantly reduced: printing and distributing assignments, checking the coincidence of barcodes, controlling the filling of forms, and so on. And this also reduces the "degree of excitement."

Clear organization

Early passing of the Unified State Exam is considered the official start of the examination campaign. At this time, only a few examination points operate in the regions, and great attention is paid to the organization of work in them. Therefore, despite the fact that it is during the early period that all procedural innovations are usually "rolled in", failures, technical problems and organizational irregularities usually do not occur. And the likelihood of encountering, for example, a shortage of additional forms or the absence of hours in the audience tends to zero.

Predictable classroom climate

Taking exams at the end of May and June is fraught with another danger - on hot days it can be very stuffy in the examination room, and the direct rays of the summer sun can add unpleasant sensations. At the same time, the organizers of examinations do not always agree to open the windows. In spring, during the heating season, the air temperature in the classroom is more predictable, and you can always dress “according to the weather” so as not to get cold and sweat during the exam.

Quick check

During the early period of the Unified State Exam, the workload on the experts checking the work is much lower - and, accordingly, the work is checked faster. It is still not worth waiting for the results the next day after the exams - the official deadlines for checking the work of the early period are usually 7-9 days, while the scores can be published a couple of days before the deadline. During the main period, schoolchildren usually have to wait for the USE results for about two weeks.

Time to develop an admission strategy

Those who pass the USE ahead of schedule already by the end of April know their results for sure - and they have two more months to analyze in detail their chances of admission to a particular university in the chosen direction, “aiming” to go to open days, and so on. And, even if the results turned out to be lower than expected, there is plenty of time to find a way out of the current situation.

In addition, graduating students who have “shot out” with exams can spend the last two months of school life in a very relaxed way. While their classmates are diligently preparing for exams, writing samples and running around tutors, they can go about their business with a sense of accomplishment.

Disadvantages of early USE

Less preparation time

The main disadvantage of taking the exam in advance is obvious: the earlier the exam date, the less time it takes to prepare. This may be especially important for graduates of the current year - after all, some topics of the school course included in the USE program can be studied in the fourth quarter of the last school year. In this case, you will have to get to know them on your own, or with the help of a tutor.

The first "run-in" of changes in the KIM USE

Control and measuring materials for most subjects are undergoing changes, and the early period for passing the exam is also the first of all innovations "in combat conditions." During the preparation for the exams of the main period, the examiners and their teachers use the FIPI versions as "official guidelines" and demo versions, and the published "post facto" versions of the preschool students. Those passing the exam in the spring are deprived of such an opportunity - they can use only a demo version as an example of a set of tasks. Therefore, the chances of encountering an unexpected assignment during the early period are much higher.

Less opportunities to prepare

Students taking exams in March-April are not able to take part in the mock exams, which usually take place at the very end of the school year. However, district education departments usually hold practice exams at an earlier date - but most often this service is paid.

In addition, the use of services for self-preparation for the Unified State Exam can also cause difficulties: when laying out options corresponding to the CMM of the current year, the owners of such services are usually guided by the timing of the main period. And, if you are taking a subject in which major changes are expected this year, the chance that a month before the early exam you will be able to find a service with a sufficient number of "plausible" options, well adapted to the exam of the current year, is rather low.

Taking exams from home

Since the number of those taking the USE ahead of schedule is small, the number of examination points is also greatly reduced. For example, residents of all districts of a large (and geographically "scattered") city can take the Unified State Exam on a given subject in only one point. And for those who live in remote or "problematic" areas of the city in terms of transport, this can become a serious disadvantage. Especially considering that exams in different subjects can take place in different places in the city, so the route and travel time will have to be re-calculated every time.

Who is allowed to take the exam?

All graduates of educational institutions of Russia who have annual grades in all subjects of the curriculum for the X-XI (XII) grades not lower than satisfactory are allowed to pass the state final certification.
The decision to admit or not admit a student to state certification is made by the pedagogical council of the institution in which the educational process is carried out, and is formalized by order.
For admission to the Unified State Exam from 2015, students must receive a credit for the final essay, which must be written in December or no later than April of the current year. Graduates of past years write the final essay at will.
All important information about the final essay is in the "Final essay on the exam" section.

What tasks are found on the exam?

The USE tasks are provided for the exam in the form of an individual package of CMMs (control and measuring materials).
The website www.ege.edu.ru, which is the official portal of the Unified State Exam, has published the projects of the CIMs of the 2019 Unified State Exam in all subjects. You can get acquainted with them in the section of the FIPI website (Federal Institute of Pedagogical Measurements) USE / Demo versions, specifications, codifiers. On the same site you can find demo versions of CMMs from previous years.
The demo version shows what the tasks on the exam will be, but does not reflect all the elements of the content of the tasks. In order to clearly know what topics you need to repeat before the exam, open the document called "Specification". It lists all the topics you need.
In addition, in the section "Demo version" there may be attachments with additional materials (for example, dictionaries of accents and paronyms for the Russian language exam). These appendices will help you prepare for the exam as they contain material that is particularly challenging.
All demos are in the section "Demonstration options for CMMs on the exam".

What study guides should be used in preparation for the exam?

You probably noticed that many publications bear the stamps “Recommended by FIPI”. In fact, the expert council of FIPI (Federal Institute for Pedagogical Measurements) has not reviewed or recommended any textbooks and manuals for many years. Use tutorials from reputable publishers and read recommendations from sites you trust.
It is best to use textbooks on subjects from the Federal List, which is recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The FIPI website www.fipi.ru contains the Federal Bank of Test Tasks, which includes materials that were used in the USE in previous years in all general subjects. Unfortunately, this section of the site also contains tasks in an outdated format.
The list of recommended publications is in the "Textbooks and Manuals" section.

What is the time frame for the Unified State Exam?

The main terms of the Unified State Exam are May-June. In addition, in April, graduates can take the Unified State Examination ahead of schedule.
In February 2015, for the first time, the USE exam in Russian language and geography will be held for persons who have already completed the study of these courses. In addition, since 2015, in September, additional deadlines have been introduced for passing the exam for graduates who received an unsatisfactory result on the exam in May. Those who are dissatisfied with the results of the main period and are thinking about entering a university next year can also take the exam in September.
All dates are in the section "Unified State Exam Calendar".

How many tasks are there in KIM?

All KIMs in one subject are standardized and contain the same number of assignments in the same thematic sequence. But the number of assignments in different subjects and the time for completing them do not coincide, for example, the Unified State Exam in the Russian language in 2015 assumes the completion of 25 assignments in 210 minutes.
You can get exact information on the number of assignments for each subject in the section "Demonstration options for CMMs for the Unified State Exam".

How long does it take to pass the exam?

In general, the USE in each subject lasts at least 180 minutes. In different years, the duration of the exam in certain subjects varied slightly (by 5-10 minutes). It depends on the structure of the exam item. The shortest exams - in basic mathematics, biology, geography and English - take three hours, the longest - in specialized mathematics, social studies, history, physics, computer science, literature - last almost four hours. The duration of the exam for more than four hours is not allowed, since in this case a lunch break is required.

In all regions of the country, the exam starts at 10:00 local time. The announced duration of the exam does not include the time allotted for preparatory activities (instructing the USE participants, opening special delivery packages with examination materials, filling in the registration fields on the USE forms).

The duration of the exam for each subject is determined in advance and is established by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation annually.
The duration of the Unified State Exam in 2016 is now declared in the Projects of Demonstration Versions in the following subjects:
Basic exam in mathematics 180 minutes (3 hours)
USE in mathematics profile 235 minutes (3 hours 55 m)
Unified State Exam in Russian 210 minutes (3.5 hours)
Unified State Exam in Social Studies 235 minutes (3 hours 55 m)
Unified State Exam in Physics 235 minutes (3 hours 55 m)
USE in history 235 minutes (3 hours 55 m)
Unified State Exam in Biology 180 minutes (3 hours)
Unified State Exam in Chemistry 210 minutes (3.5 hours)
Unified State Exam in Informatics 235 minutes (3 hours 55 m)
Unified State Exam in Literature 235 minutes (3 hours 55 m)
Unified State Exam in Geography 180 minutes (3 hours)
USE in foreign languages 180 minutes (3 hours)

Is it true that it is easier to pass the USE ahead of schedule than at the main stage?

All CMMs are formed in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard for Complete Secondary General Education and approved codifiers and specifications (see the section "Demonstration versions of CMMs for the Unified State Exam"). The options for CMMs for the early period are not easier or more difficult than at the main stage of the exam. Since 2015, FIPI has published one real version of the KIM of the early period, which makes it possible to assess the real complexity of the tasks on the exam. The content (general formulation of questions) and the complexity of the tasks in these KIMs does not differ from what is offered in the Demo version and at the exams in May-June.
Why do we need different CMMs in different time zones? Will there be different tasks in my region than in others?
All CMMs are formed so as to provide a variety of sets of individual examination tasks. In each time zone, a separate set of tasks is used for this, from which an individual option is formed for each student. CMMs, which are used in different regions of the country and in different time zones, may have noticeable differences from each other, sometimes even the wording of the tasks does not coincide ("in which words one letter H is missing" and "in which words are two letters NN missing") ... However, all KIMs are formed in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard for Complete Secondary General Education and approved codifiers and specifications, and all USE tasks are similar to those offered in manuals and collections of standard options.

If I am a prize-winner of the All-Russian Olympiad, is this taken into account when passing the exam?

The diploma of the winner of the All-Russian Olympiad is equal to 100 points in the subject of the Olympiad. If you plan to enter a university for a specialty that corresponds to the profile of the Olympiad, you will be admitted without exams. If you enter a specialty that does not correspond to the profile of the Olympiad, then the diploma of the winner of the All-Russian Olympiad will be equated to 100 points for one entrance test corresponding to the subject of the Olympiad.
