The origin of narzan

Narzan species

Until 1928, only one source of the narzan was known. However, in the process of its development and further research of the area, on the territory later called the "Kislovodsk deposit of narzan", other sources of mineral water were discovered, both in Kislovodsk itself and in the valleys of the Podkumok, Olkhovka and Berezovka rivers. The first one is located eight kilometers from the city, the other two are on the outskirts. All Kislovodsk narzans are similar in composition and belong to the group of carbonic waters. The main differences are in the degree of their mineralization and the ratio of ions, which makes it possible to distribute all narzan waters into three groups.

1 group. Common narzan. This group includes waters from sites near the Berezovka and Podkumok rivers. Common narzan is mined at a depth of ten to fifteen meters underground and is characterized by low mineralization (up to 2 g / l) and a low carbon dioxide content of 1.2-1.4 g / l). The water temperature is 12 degrees. It is used for medicinal purposes, mainly for external procedures, to a lesser extent for drinking.

Group 2. Dolmite Narzan. It differs from the common narzan in the increased content of carbon dioxide (2 g / l) and higher mineralization (up to 5 g / l), including due to the high content of sodium and chlorine ions. The water temperature is 15-17 degrees. It is mined at a depth of one hundred to one hundred and fifty meters, and is mainly used for drinking cures. Group 3. Sulphated narzan. The presence of a small amount of arsenic in water is also important. This type of narzan is mined at a depth of three hundred fifty - four hundred meters and has the most pronounced healing effect.
